  • Ryan Borucki RP | SF

Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Roughed up against Boston

Borucki surrendered seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks while fanning five across three innings, although he didn't factor into the decision Friday versus the Red Sox.

Borucki certainly didn't have his best stuff early on, allowing one run in the first followed by five in the second, although the Blue Jays would rally to get him off the hook. Prior to Friday's start, Borucki had turned in solid outings over his first three starts of the season (five runs allowed through 20 innings) so he'll look to get back on track in his first start after the All-Star break.

  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Status unknown for Sunday

Yacabonis is potentially dealing with strep throat, making it unclear if he'll be called up for Sunday's spot start against Texas, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Yacabonis was looking like the favorite to make a spot start, but it's uncertain if he'll be ready to pitch over the weekend. If he's unable to go, there's a good chance Chris Tillman (back) could be reinstated from the disabled list to get the nod. More information on Yacabonis' status should be revealed as Sunday's matchup approaches.

  • Ryan Merritt RP | TB

Indians' Ryan Merritt: Activated; designated for assignment

Merritt (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day DL and designated for assignment prior to Friday's game, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The Indians were forced to make a decision on Merritt's roster spot as the left-hander's rehab assignment came to an end. Manager Terry Francona said the decision was effectively made for the team due to a decrease in velocity by Merritt over the past couple weeks while in the minors. He will now be subject to the waiver wire after being designated for assignment.

  • Nick Rumbelow RP | SEA

Mariners' Nick Rumbelow: Shuttled to minors

Rumbelow was sent down to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

The Mariners will replenish their bullpen after Rumbelow allowed four earned runs on four hits -- including two home runs -- and one hit batsman during Thursday's series finale against the Angels. Across 10.1 innings of work with the big-league club this season, he's posted an unsightly 7.84 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.

  • Casey Lawrence RP | SEA

Mariners' Casey Lawrence: Returns to majors

Lawrence was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Lawrence has a couple brief stints with the Mariners this season, and has allowed nine runs on eight hits over 10 innings. The 30-year-old has found more success for the Rainiers -- 2.81 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 11 starts -- and seems likely to be used in low-leverage or long-relief situations out of the Mariners' bullpen.

  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Astros' Chris Devenski: Hit hard by A's

Devenski (2-2) allowed three runs on four hits in a third of an inning Thursday, taking the loss against Oakland.

Devenski was also tagged with a blown save, his second in the last five appearances. Last season at this time, Devenski was preparing for his first All-Star Game appearance; this year the break can't come soon enough for the right-hander. He's been a very effective reliever all season, but is finishing the first half on a down note. Devenski, whose season ERA was a tidy 1.34 through the end of June, has given up five runs, seven hits, two walks and a hit batsman over his last three innings.

  • Twins' Fernando Rodney: Records two-out save

Rodney recorded the final two outs without allowing a baserunner while striking out one to record his 21st save Thursday against the Rays.

Rodney entered the game after Ryan Pressly loaded the bases in the ninth inning. With the tying run at the plate, Rodney retired the final two batters of the game without issue -- one via strikeout and the other groundball. While he has blown five saves this season, Rodney is locked into the Twins' closer role unless he is dealt prior to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Works perfect ninth for save

Chapman struck out one batter in a perfect inning to secure his 25th save in Thursday's 7-4 win over Cleveland.

Yet another strong outing for the hard-throwing lefty, bringing him to 25-for-26 in save chances this season. Chapman owns a terrific 1.38 ERA, allowing just six runs in 39 innings alongside a 67:15 K:BB.

  • Lou Trivino RP | PHI

Athletics' Lou Trivino: Notches fourth save

Trivino picked up the save Thursday with a clean inning highlighted by two strikeouts against the Astros.

Trivino got the call in the ninth after getting each of the last two days off. He responded with a shutdown, 14-pitch inning that included four swinging strikes. Trivino continues to be a dominant reliever with elite ratios (1.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) that brings the added bonus of notching the occasional win or save.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Secures 29th save

Kimbrel fired a scoreless ninth inning, allowing just one hit and nailing down his 29th save in a 6-4 win over Toronto on Thursday.

Kimbrel is now 29-for-31 on save chances this season and has locked down 20 in a row. He owns a strong 1.86 ERA along with a 58:15 K:BB in 38.2 innings this season. The 30-year-old flamethrower remains one of baseball's elite closers.
