  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Returned to Triple-A

Yacabonis returned to Triple-A Norfolk following Saturday's doubleheader.

This was the plan all along for his spot start for Game 1 of the twin bill against the Red Sox. Yacabonis allowed three runs in 4.2 innings and will return to his role as organizational depth, but he could again find a big-league spot should a need arise in the final months of the season.

  • Twins' Trevor Hildenberger: Converts first save chance

Hildenberger gave up two runs and a home run but struck out two and earned his first save of the season in Saturday's win over Detroit.

Hildenberger took the ball in the ninth inning with a lead as he's the first pitcher given a chance to close a game since the trade of Fernando Rodney. It's not clear if the Twins will use Hildenberger as the primary closer or use a committee approach. Hildenberger's outing certainly didn't help him take over the role, even if he did get the save.

  • Yankees' Dellin Betances: Blows save but earns win

Betances (3-3) picked up a blown save and a win Saturday against the Rangers. He was not charged with a run over 1.1 innings and struck out a pair of batters while not allowing a single baserunner.

It's tough to blow a save without giving up a single baserunner, but Betances did just that, balking in the tying run in the seventh inning after being called on to clean up Zach Britton's mess. He got out of the inning by striking out Jurickson Profar and retired the side in order in the eighth, providing an effective bridge to closer Aroldis Chapman while the Yankees proceeded to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Betances now has a stellar 2.19 ERA and a 15.9 K/9 in 49.1 innings this season.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Grabs 30th save

Chapman battled through the rain to pick up his 30th save of the season Saturday against the Rangers. He allowed a hit and a walk and hit a batter while striking out a pair in a scoreless inning.

Chapman allowed the tying run to reach second base but got out of the jam by striking out Jurickson Profar to end the game. His 30 saves are third in the AL, and he needs need eight more to tie his career high. Meanwhile, his 16.2 K/9 is well above the 12.3 K/9 he posted last season and represents his highest rate since 2014.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Scheduled for bullpen session

Fulmer (oblique) will throw a 50-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Fulmer hit the disabled list with a left oblique strain in mid-July. He's been throwing off flat ground and is now set to throw off the mound. It's unclear how close he is to a rehab assignment, but assuming he needs to make one, he's at least a week away from returning to Detroit.

  • Akeel Morris RP | SF

Angels' Akeel Morris: Sent back to Triple-A

Morris was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Morris was up for just one day and did not make an appearance. He'll make way for Tyler Skaggs, who returns from his hip injury to start Saturday against the Athletics.

  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Can't get through five innings

Yacabonis (0-1) took the loss Saturday against the Red Sox after allowing three runs on five hits in 4.2 innings. He struck out just two and allowed a pair of homers.

Yacabonis hasn't gone more than five innings in any of his three starts this season. He cruised through four scoreless innings this time around before falling apart in the fifth. He gave up three runs on four hits in that frame, including homers to Eduardo Nunez and Jackie Bradley, and he was pulled before recording the final out. Despite the mediocre performance, the outing actually improved his ERA to 6.75, though he hasn't done anything to suggest he'll be a valuable fantasy asset going forward. He was only called upon Saturday as the sixth starter and 26th man for the day's doubleheader, so it's likely that he'll head back to Triple-A Norfolk shortly.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Rays' Ryne Stanek: Serves as Saturday's opener

Stanek will take the mound as Tampa Bay's opening pitcher against Toronto on Saturday, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.

Stanek previously "started" Wednesday's game versus Baltimore, allowing two earned runs on two hits (both solo home runs) while striking out four across two innings. This will mark his 19th start of the year. Across a total of 37 appearances, he's logged a 2.56 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with an impressive 11.8 K/9.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Begins rehab assignment

Norris (groin) started a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast Rookie-League team Saturday.

This marked his first appearance since he suffered the groin injury on Apr. 30. Norris pitched two innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out a pair. It's expected that Norris will require a lengthy rehab assignment, so a target date around early-to-mid September seems appropriate.

  • Donnie Hart RP | BAL

Orioles' Donnie Hart: Optioned to minors

Hart was sent back down to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.

Hart allowed three earned runs on five hits (one home run) and a walk while recording just one out during Friday's loss to Boston. In a corresponding move, the club selected the contract of Sean Gilmartin from Norfolk.
