Graterol (shoulder) was activated from the minor-league injured list Wednesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Graterol has been sidelined since late May with a shoulder impingement, but he's been cleared to rejoin Double-A Pensacola after completing a pair of rehab appearances with Minnesota's rookie Gulf Coast League team. Assistant GM Rob Antony noted earlier in the week that Graterol could earn a promotion to the majors before the end of August now that he's healthy.

Manaea (shoulder) will play catch Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Manaea has been cleared to resume throwing again after having his rehab assignment paused due to side soreness. While this is an encouraging sign for the left-hander, the Athletics have yet to offer up an updated timetable for his return. Prior to his brief shutdown period, Manaea was originally scheduled to make one more rehab start for Triple-A Las Vegas before rejoining the Athletics.

Palumbo (ankle) allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out five over 2.2 innings for Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

This was Palumbo's first start back from a bout of right ankle tendinitis, an issue that cost Palumbo another shot in the big-league rotation in late July. He gave up a homer to Drew Weeks but was otherwise effective, throwing 24 of 37 pitches for strikes and fanning five of the 11 batters he faced. Once he's built up a little more, Palumbo should get that return trip to Arlington.

Stewart is slated to work as the primary pitcher Wednesday against the Rays, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Wilmer Font is set to open and pitch the first two frames before giving way to Stewart, who is expected to cover the majority of innings Wednesday. The righty struggled in his first appearance for the Blue Jays earlier in the week, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk while recording just two outs (one via strikeout).

Colome allowed one run on one hit and a walk with one strikeout during the ninth inning in a 5-3 victory against the Tigers on Tuesday, picking up his 22nd save.

After retiring the first two batters, Colome did allow the tying run to come to the plate. However, the only reason he gave up a run is because of a catcher's indifference, which, of course, is quite common in the ninth inning when one team is ahead by a few runs. Unfortunately, it does mean Colome has allowed four runs in his last 8.2 innings (4.15 ERA). He is 3-2 with 22 saves in 23 opportunities to go with a 2.44 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 35 strikeouts in 44.1 innings this season.

Graterol (shoulder impingement) is a candidate to be called up to the majors, perhaps as early as August, Twins assistant GM Rob Antony told SKOR North AM 1500 Twin Cities.

Graterol threw two scoreless innings in a rehab outing for Minnesota's rookie Gulf Coast League team Thursday. He was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Pensacola with a shoulder impingement in May. Graterol has a 100-mph fastball that could help the Twins in the bullpen, but Antony's talk may just be general praise for the prospect. It's more likely that he'd be added to the major-league team when rosters expand in September. He'll need to show he's healthy first. Antony did say Graterol is expected to be activated from the 7-day IL soon.

Alvarado (oblique) fired a scoreless seventh inning in Triple-A Durham's win over Syracuse on Tuesday, allowing no hits and two walks while recording a strikeout.

A report Monday indicated Alvarado would take the hill Wednesday and Thursday for the Bulls, but that schedule was apparently moved up by a day. Alvarado threw 26 pitches overall Tuesday, with control problems leading to him getting only 12 of those offerings into the strike zone. Alvarado is scheduled to toe the rubber again Wednesday, after which he'll likely be evaluated for possible activation.

Yarbrough allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk over 4.2 innings during Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Yarbrough saw two unearned runs cross the plate during the fourth inning as a throwing error allowed both runs to score with two outs. The 27-year-old worked into the seventh inning as the bulk reliever, but he was pulled with two outs after giving up a double and a walk -- both of which were stranded. Yarbrough has a 3.90 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 70:13 K:BB over 90 innings and lines up to work again Sunday at Seattle.

Adams (lat) has increased his throwing distance off flat ground to 140 feet and could be cleared for a bullpen session within the next few days, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Adams has been sidelined since July 4, so after he advances to mound work and facing live hitters in batting practice, he'll presumably require multiple appearances in the minors before being deemed ready for activation. The right-handed reliever has already experienced one setback related to scar tissue in his shoulder, however, so the Mariners may be particularly cautious with the pace of his recovery.

VerHagen (2-2) allowed one earned run on seven hits and no walks while striking out five to earn the win in the second game of the team's doubleheader against the White Sox on Tuesday.

VerHagen turned in his most effective start of the campaign as he held the White Sox to just one extra-base hit. He relied heavily on keeping the ball on the ground, with seven of his 15 outs coming via the groundball. It's possible this was just a spot start for VerHagen due to the doubleheader -- the recent return of Spencer Turnbull could bump him from the rotation.
