Rogers struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over the White Sox.

The southpaw has notched three saves in his last three appearances, and Sergio Romo -- who struck out the side in the eighth inning in this one -- hasn't gotten a save chance since Aug. 16. Rogers seems to have regained his perch as the Twins' primary closer, and he sports a 2.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 76:10 K:BB through 58.1 innings on the year.

Robles picked up the save against the Rangers on Tuesday, tossing a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a baserunner to close out the Angels' 5-2 victory. He didn't record a strikeout or a walk.

Robles blew his third save of the season his last time out, but he managed to bounce back with an easy effort in this contest, needing just 12 pitches to dispatch of the Rangers and collect his 19th save of the year. He's done a solid job in the closer role for the Angels in 2019, as he's sporting a 2.73 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 57:15 K:BB across 59.1 innings.

Giles allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save Tuesday against the Braves.

Giles was called upon in the ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead. After allowing a leadoff single to Billy Hamilton, he retired the next three batters he faced to record his 17th save of the campaign. He's now turned in five consecutive scoreless appearances, bringing his ERA to a stellar mark of 1.71. He's also managed a 1.10 WHIP as well as 69 strikeouts across 42 innings on the season.

Gearrin's toe tap has been determined by league officials to be within the rules, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Gearrin was charged with a controversial balk after making his usual move to the plate against the Mariners on Monday. The league reviewed the call and informed Yankees manager Aaron Boone that the move is fine and should not be a problem moving forward. Gearrin was claimed by the Yankees on Friday after being released by Seattle two days earlier.

Merryweather (elbow) resumed throwing Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Merryweather is back on track after a rest period of over a month. He's been out all season while recovering from last March's Tommy John surgery and almost certainly doesn't have time to get back to game action before the minor-league season ends. Perhaps he will make up for lost time in winter ball.

Alvarado's (elbow) MRI and doctor visit Monday yielded fairly encouraging results, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Alvarado landed on the injured list with elbow inflammation Saturday. He was diagnosed with elbow tendinitis during his doctor visit and is resting for now. He's expected to return at some point this season, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com.

May has struck out 11 batters and has given up one run on three hits and three walks across 10.1 innings in his nine appearances this month.

The 29-year-old strong work in relief lately has seemingly allowed him to ascend in the Twins' bullpen pecking order, as he's captured holds in two of his last five outings. Touted by many observers in the spring as a prime candidate to claim the Twins' wide-open closer role, May never ultimately seized the gig, but he's at least beginning to showcase the skills that made him a sought-after commodity in fantasy drafts.

VerHagen is expected to work as a "piggyback" reliever behind starter Daniel Norris in Thursday's game against the Indians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Norris has delivered solid results while working exactly three innings in each of his last three starts, so he'll presumably be in store for another early departure in his next turn before giving way to VerHagen. Detroit deployed VerHagen in a traditional starting role his last time out in Minnesota over the weekend, with the right-hander covering six innings while fanning a career-high 11 batters. That performance may result in VerHagen earning additional starts in the final month of the season, but he'll shift to the bullpen for at least this week after Monday's off day allowed Detroit to streamline the rotation.

Norris is slated to make what will likely be an abbreviated start Thursday against the Indians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Since Norris hadn't found much success in a traditional starting role this season, the Tigers have taken the "piggyback" approach to his last three turns through the rotation. Norris has been pulled after three innings in each of those turns, posting a 4.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP during that stretch. Another three-inning outing presumably awaits Norris this week, with Drew VerHagen slated to work in long relief once the southpaw exits.

Chapman picked up the save against the Mariners on Monday, posting a pair of strikeouts without allowing a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to close out the Yankees' 5-4 victory.

It was smooth sailing for the big lefty in this one, as he needed just 10 pitches to dispatch of the Mariners in order to pick up his 36th save of the season. Chapman has been lights-out in August, as he has yet to allow a run and has posted a 16:3 K:BB in 10 appearances for the month. The dominant stretch leaves him with a 2.26 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 77:23 K:BB over 51.2 innings on the season.
