The Yankees recalled Abreu from their taxi squad to serve as their 29th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Braves.

Abreu's lone appearance with the big club came back on Aug. 8, when he was also serving as the 29th man for a twin bill with the Rays. He'll give the Yankees some length out of the bullpen, but don't expect him to be used Wednesday outside of a mop-up situation.

Manager Kevin Cash expressed optimism that Anderson (forearm) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list Sunday when first eligible, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Cash reiterated Tuesday that Anderson was "doing well" since being shut down over the weekend with right forearm inflammation, but the skipper didn't specify whether the 30-year-old has resumed throwing. Assuming Anderson can at least complete a pain-free bullpen session within the next few days, he'll have a good chance at meeting his goal of an abbreviated stay on the IL. Anderson had been dominant at the back of the Tampa Bay bullpen prior to hitting the shelf, converting three saves while turning in a 0.54 WHIP and a 15:1 K:BB over 9.1 scoreless innings.

Barnes gave up two hits, including a solo home run, and struck out two in the ninth inning Tuesday to record his second save of the season in a 9-7 win over the Blue Jays.

The right-hander had a big enough cushion to withstand Teoscar Hernandez's blast, but this was still the second time in three appearances since taking over the closer role that Barnes has been scored upon. On the season, the right-hander has a rough 6.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB through 12 innings, and manager Ron Roenicke may look at other options in the ninth inning if Barnes continues to be shaky.

Hand earned the save against Minnesota on Tuesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning and notching one strikeout.

Hand had little trouble setting the Twins down in order to close out a two-run win. He tossed 10 of his 14 pitches for strikes en route to his eighth save of the season. The lefty trails only Liam Hendriks (nine) for the league lead.

Barria was optioned to the alternate training site after Tuesday's doubleheader against the Astros.

The 24-year-old joined the active roster as the 29th man for the doubleheader, and he covered five frames in long relief during the matinee, allowing only one run. Barria has a 2.89 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB through 9.1 innings this season.

Pressly earned the save in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels, allowing one hit with two strikeouts and zero walks in a scoreless seventh inning.

The right-hander gave up a single to Albert Pujols to start the frame, but he put down the next three batters to lock down the victory. Pressly has converted four of six save chances and has given up five runs on 12 hits with a 11:4 K:BB through 8.2 innings.

Manaea (2-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits over five innings, earning the win Tuesday versus the Rangers. He struck out three and walked none.

Manaea was solid in Tuesday's game, and he can't be blamed for Marcus Semien's fifth-inning error that indirectly led to a pair of runs for the Rangers. It marked the third straight start in which Manaea allowed three runs or fewer after failing to do that in his first four starts of the year. He has a 5.64 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 25 strikeouts across 30.1 innings. The 28-year-old southpaw is expected to make his next start Sunday in Houston.

Richards will start Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Richards last covered three frames in long relief last Thursday, and he'll make his second start of the season Wednesday against Baltimore. Richards has a 5.94 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB through 16.2 innings this season.

Beeks was removed from Tuesday's game against the Orioles with an elbow/forearm injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 27-year-old delivered 1.1 scoreless frames and was in line to secure the two-inning save before exiting the contest. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but according to Topkin, some team officials fear he could be dealing with a UCL injury. Beeks will likely be evaluated further Wednesday.

Junis (back) will start Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Junis has been increasing his workload since landing on the injured list with back spasms, and he'll be able to start Wednesday. There was some uncertainty as to whether he'd require an opener, but he will be making a traditional start. A corresponding move to clear room for the right-hander will likely depend on the Royals' bullpen usage Tuesday.
