Cordero was hit with a three-game suspension Saturday after intentionally hitting Willson Contreras with a pitch Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The suspension rules Cordero out for the final two games of the year as well as the first game of next season. It won't affect his playoff availability, though his 5.61 ERA and 1.52 WHIP on the season mean he isn't particularly likely to make the White Sox's postseason roster.

Smeltzer was recalled by the Twins on Saturday.

Smeltzer has been in the big leagues for the majority of the season but hasn't exactly impressed, posting a 6.75 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 16 innings of work. He could get at least one more chance to improve on those numbers and try to earn a place on the playoff roster during the final two days of the season. Edwar Colina was optioned in a corresponding move.

Anderson (2-1) was credited with the win against the Phillies on Friday, firing a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed no hits and issued one walk.

Anderson was slightly less efficient than usual, throwing only half of his 16 pitches for strikes and walking his third batter this year. However, the right-hander still managed his fourth consecutive scoreless effort, and he became the pitcher of record when Joey Wendle laced a go-ahead two-run single in the home half of the eighth, which proved to be the difference in the contest. Anderson will likely continue to be one of manager Kevin Cash's most trusted bullpen assets in the postseason.

Diekman (2-0) was credited with the victory in an extra-inning win over the Mariners on Friday, allowing an unearned run on one walk over an inning while also recording a strikeout.

The southpaw notched his second victory in as many outings with an effective 15-pitch frame. Diekman notably allowed a run for the second consecutive appearance as well after sporting an unblemished ERA through his first 18.1 frames of the campaign, although Friday's was aided by a passed ball and scored by inning-opening baserunner Dee Strange-Gordon. The 33-year-old now boasts an 0.44 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 20.1 innings alongside his two victories and 12 holds.

Yarbrough will serve as the primary pitcher for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

John Curtiss was named the opener for Saturday's contest, but it's unlikely that he'll last very long after closing out Friday's win. Yarbrough should pitch the bulk of the innings once Curtiss comes out of the game as he makes his final appearance of the regular season.

Alvarado (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Alvarado doesn't look like he'll be activated from the 45-day injured list prior to Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Phillies, but he could be a candidate to earn a spot on Tampa Bay's postseason roster. The lefty hasn't pitched for the big club since Aug. 14, but before imploding in that appearance and subsequently landing on the IL with shoulder inflammation, Alvarado posted a 2.16 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and an 11:4 K:BB over 8.1 innings in his first eight appearances of 2020.

Green (3-3) allowed an unearned run in the 10th inning that would end up deciding the game in a 4-3 loss to the Marlins on Friday.

It was an unfortunate inning for Green, who gave up a run without allowing a hit due to a throwing error by catcher Kyle Higashioka. On the flip side, Green is having a solid year out of the bullpen with a 3.51 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 32:8 K:BB across 25.2 innings.

Pressly allowed a solo home run and struck out two in a blown save Friday against the Rangers.

Pressly had been in a groove as the closer this month until Ronald Guzman took him deep in the ninth inning to send the game into extra innings. The reliever told Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle the pitch was placed where he wanted it -- a curveball down and in -- but Guzman reached down and got it. It was the fourth blown save of the season for Pressly, whose previous blown save came on Sept. 1.

Paredes (3-3) allowed two runs (one earned) and a walk in one-third of an inning in an extra-inning loss to the Rangers on Friday.

Paredes loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th inning and allowed the tying-run to scored on a sacrifice fly. Brooks Raley came in to try to diffuse the situation, but instead allowed the Rangers' winning run to score on a fielder's choice. Paredes was charged with his second blown save of the year. He has a 3.05 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and five holds in 20.2 innings.

Martin (1-1) allowed an unearned run on one hit in one inning and earned the extra-inning win Friday versus the Astros.

Martin allowed a sacrifice fly by Alex Bregman to knock in the initial runner Jose Altuve in the 10th inning. The Rangers bailed out Martin by scraping together a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame. The 25-year-old southpaw has posted a 1.98 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and two holds in 13.2 innings across 14 appearances.
