Bryan Mata RP | BOS
Red Sox's Bryan Mata: Dealing with triceps soreness
Mata was scratched from relief work Wednesday due to right triceps soreness, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Mata was not likely to make the big-league club out of camp, but he could make his MLB debut this year if he's healthy this summer. It's unclear when he will be healthy enough to resume throwing.

Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Scheduled to start Saturday
Fulmer (personal) is scheduled to start Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Fulmer has been away from the team for a few days following the birth of his child, but he is set to rejoin the Tigers this weekend. Barring any hiccups, he will have plenty of time to build up his pitch count before Opening Day.

Chad Green RP | TOR
Yankees' Chad Green: Held back from game action
Green was originally scheduled to travel with the Yankees and pitch in Tuesday's game, but he instead threw a live batting practice session at the team's minor-league complex, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Manager Aaron Boone indicated that the organization prefers to work some of its higher-leverage relievers into action cautiously, which explains the change in plans for Green. The 29-year-old is expected to fill a setup role in his sixth season with the Yankees.

Gerardo Reyes RP | ATH
Angels' Gerardo Reyes: Diagnosed with UCL sprain
Reyes was diagnosed with a right UCL sprain Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Reyes will presumably miss an extended period with the injury, though it remains unclear exactly when he's expected back. He was always a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, and this news seems to have evaporated his chances completely.

Dillon Tate RP | TOR
Orioles' Dillon Tate: Slated to pitch Wednesday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Tate (finger) will make his Grapefruit League debut in Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Tate finished the 2020 campaign on the injured list with a sprained finger on his throwing hand, but he doesn't appear to be facing any limitations thus far in spring training. He'll presumably be asked to cover an inning of relief in his first outing of the Grapefruit League slate.

Anthony Kay SP | CHW
Blue Jays' Anthony Kay: Added velocity
Kay threw two scoreless innings against the Yankees in Sunday's spring training opener, topping out at 97 mph in the process, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Last season his average fastball was 93.6 mph.
Kay is fighting for a rotation slot, but hemight have to begin the season as a swingman or even in the minors. As part of the haul for Marcus Stroman, the Jays are likely to want to see more from him. The other good news for Kay is that he's working on a cutter that he started developing with catcher Alejandro Kirk.

Andrew Kittredge RP | BAL
Rays' Andrew Kittredge: First game action since August
Kittredge was credited with a hold in Sunday's Grapefruit League loss to the Braves, allowing an unearned run on two hits and recording a strikeout over one inning.
Kittredge was shut down for the 2020 season in August due to a sprained UCL ligament in his elbow, and after avoiding Tommy John surgery this offseason, he was brought back by the Rays on a minor-league deal in December. The right-hander has filled both starting and relief roles in Tampa over the previous four seasons, and he was in the midst of a solid campaign last year (2.25 ERA across eight innings) before his injury. Given his versatility and the coaching staff's familiarity with him, Kittredge could certainly earn a bullpen spot with a strong enough spring.

Rafael Montero RP | NYY
Mariners' Rafael Montero: Settling in after late arrival
Montero, whose arrival at spring training was delayed due to a visa issue, is already throwing bullpens and will face hitters in the coming days, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
The hard-throwing right-hander was acquired from the Rangers on Dec. 15 and is expected to have a prominent bullpen role after going 8-for-8 in save chances in Texas during the 2020 campaign. Montero, who logged 18 starts for the Mets back in 2017, proved much more effective as a reliever the last two seasons and enters spring training as the Mariners' presumptive closer, given his recent body of work, demeanor and mid-90s fastball. "That ball comes out hot," manager Scott Servais said. "It's really easy, and he is as advertised -- his level-headed and just cool kind of attitude about him on the mound. He's very confident."
-
Evan Phillips RP | LAD
Orioles' Evan Phillips: Ready to go for spring training
Phillips (elbow) is listed among the Orioles' available relievers for Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Phillips' inclusion on the Orioles' travel squad implies that he's made a full recovery from his bout with right elbow inflammation that sidelined him late in the 2020 campaign. Baltimore proceeded to outright Phillips off their 40-man roster in the offseason, so he's most likely headed for Triple-A Norfolk to begin the 2021 campaign.

Alex Wells RP | BAL
Orioles' Alex Wells: Available out of bullpen Monday
Wells (oblique) is included on the Orioles' travel roster for Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Wells' inclusion on the lineup card suggests he'll be available as a relief option for the Orioles' second game of the spring. The lefty pitcher was slowed earlier in spring training by an oblique injury that was apparently minor.
