Green (0-2) recorded no outs before yielding a walkoff solo home run to earn the loss in Wednesday's 5-4 defeat against Toronto.

The righty had previously been stellar in 2021, not allowing a single earned run and walking only one batter in 7.2 innings pitched before Bo Bichette launched a hanging slider out to the opposite field Wednesday. Regardless, Green remains New York's most reliable high-leverage reliever after Aroldis Chapman for the time being, and he'll still have a critical role once Zack Britton (elbow) returns later in the season.

Sulser was added as the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Mariners.

Sulser logged two scoreless innings with three strikeouts prior to getting sent down earlier this season. He will offer bullpen depth during the twin bill before being sent back to the alternate site.

Fleming (0-1) allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out two across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Rangers.

Fleming allowed only a solo home run to Nate Lowe, but didn't receive any run support and took the loss. He pitched well based on his ability to keep the ball on the ground, with nine of his 15 outs coming via groundout. This effort marked Fleming's first start of the season, and he projects to fill the fifth starter role in the Rays' rotation for the time being. Currently, he lines up to make his next start Monday at Kansas CIty.

Fulmer (1-0) allowed two runs on three hits across five innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Astros. He walked one and struck out two.

Fulmer was solid if not spectacular against a potent Houston lineup, and it earned the righty his first win in the majors since 2018. It's been a long road back for Fulmer, who missed all of 2019 following Tommy John surgery then logged only 27.2 innings last season as the Tigers eased him back into action. With Julio Teheran (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list, Fulmer could stick in the rotation for a bit, though Spencer Turnbull's return from the COVID-19 injured list will complicate matters. For now, Fulmer is lined up to start again Tuesday against Pittsburgh, and he'll look to build on this positive outing.

Barnes picked up his second save of the season in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins. He walked one and struck out two across his lone inning on the mound.

Barnes slammed the door shut in the seventh -- and final -- inning of the game, though he wasn't as composed as one would've expected and only tossed 10 of his 18 pitches for strikes. He fanned two in the process, though, and now owns a 14:2 K:BB over his first seven innings covering his first six appearances of the campaign.

Staumont pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one to earn a hold in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Angels.

Staumont entered the game with a one-run lead to protect. The Royals added four runs while Staumont was in the game, giving the right-hander a larger cushion, not that he needed it. He's allowed just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings this season, and he's yet to allow a run. He should be good to go after spending Tuesday on the COVID-19-related injured list.

Abreu was optioned to the alternate training site Wednesday.

He gave up one run while striking out three in two innings over two appearances while up with the big club. Look for Abreu to be up and down between the majors and Triple-A all season long.

Burdi was recalled prior to Wednesday's game against Cleveland, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

He takes the place of Dylan Cease (COVID) in the short term to provide the White Sox with some extra bullpen depth. Burdi can miss bats with the best of them, but throwing strikes and staying healthy have been major hurdles in the past.

Lakins was recalled from the Orioles' alternate training site Wednesday.

Lakins was sent down by the Orioles after he served as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against Seattle, but he'll now rejoin the club after right-hander Mac Sceroler (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Lakins made his season debut against the Mariners on Tuesday and struck out two in one clean relief inning.

The Red Sox announced that Mata (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Mata opted for the procedure after he was shut down during spring training when he was diagnosed with a slight tear of the UCL in his right elbow. The 21-year-old is expected to require a 12-to-16-month recovery from the surgery, meaning he'll likely be sidelined until the summer of 2022. Mata had been regarded as one of the Red Sox's top pitching prospects heading into the season.
