Barlow pitched a perfect eighth inning with one strikeout to earn a hold in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Barlow relieved starter Brady Singer at the start of the eighth inning. The 28-year-old Barlow needed just 10 pitches to earn his third hold of the season. He has a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB across 13.1 innings this season. Josh Staumont worked the ninth inning for a save with Greg Holland and Wade Davis both in a rough patch early in the year. Barlow has picked up one save, one blown save and a win in 10 outings.

Kittredge pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit to get the save in the win Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Kittredge has appeared in many different roles this season. After serving as an opener in his last two appearances, he was called upon in the ninth inning for the save Saturday. This was only his second save of his career. The Rays like to use many different relievers for saves throughout the season, but Kittredge is not likely to receive many closing opportunities.

Romano (2-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on two walks while recording only one out and took the loss to the Rays on Saturday.

Romano struggled with his command in his first appearance back after being reinstated from the 10-day injured list. He had more walks (two) than outs (one). If he can get back to his 2020 form, which saw him post a 1.23 ERA, he could return to a high-leverage relief role.

Hendriks (1-0) blew the save but still got the win Saturday against the Rangers. He allowed one run on one hit while fanning two across his lone inning of work.

Hendriks entered the game with a 1-0 lead in the ninth but blew the save when Willie Calhoun took him deep with one out. However, the White Sox got the win in the bottom of the ninth following an RBI double from Nick Madrigal that scored Luis Robert -- meaning Hendriks still qualified for the win. The veteran is now 4-for-6 in save opportunities this season but his role as Chicago's closer is not in doubt at the moment.

King (2-1) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the White Sox after giving up a run on three hits and a walk across 2.2 innings. He fanned one.

King was just one out away from sending the game to extra innings, but he allowed a game-winning double to Nick Madrigal that scored Luis Robert. The left-hander ended a streak of five scoreless appearances while pitching his longest outing of the season, but he continues to be one of the Rangers' most dependable arms out of the bullpen and owns a 1.69 ERA across 10.2 innings in eight appearances.

Staumont did not allow a baserunner and struck out two to earn the save Saturday against Detroit.

Staumont entered the game with a one-run lead and pitched effectively to pick up his first save of the campaign. His usage only adds to the confusion of the Royals' bullpen situation, as six different relievers have now recorded at least one save for the club this season. However, both Wade Davis and Scott Barlow have scuffled a bit of late -- Barlow did throw a clean eighth inning in this contest to earn a hold -- which could give Staumont an opportunity to become a more prominent portion of the closer committee in Kansas City.

Lowther will be recalled from the alternate site Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Lowther is among the organization's best left-handed pitching prospects and started 26 games at Double-A Bowie in 2019. While he has come through the organization as a starter, he's expected to begin his big-league career in the bullpen.

Fleming will serve as the primary pitcher in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Fleming has served as a traditional starter in his two appearances this season, working 5.0 and 5.1 innings, respectively. He's been effective, maintaining 0.87 ERA with a 5:2 K:BB across 10.1 frames. While Fleming will lose the chance for a quality start, he could be in a strong position to earn his second win of the campaign.

Patino will serve as the team's opener Sunday against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

It's unclear exactly how long Patino will pitch. Josh Fleming will handle the majority of the workload. Patino made his major-league debut in 2020 with the Padres and posted a 5.19 ERA with a 21:14 K:BB across 17.1 innings.

Honeywell was optioned to the Rays' alternate site after pitching in Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Honeywell allowed three runs on three hits and a walk across one inning in the game. Though he was ineffective, the Rays were able to come back to win the game, sparing him the loss. Honeywell was optioned to make a spot on the roster for Luis Patino, who is expected to pitch in Sunday's series finale.
