Thornton was added as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against Boston.

Thornton should be able to give the Blue Jays length out of the bullpen if called upon in either contest, though he's unlikely to pitch in a high-leverage situation. In 39.1 major-league innings this season, he owns an unremarkable 4.58 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Chapman underwent an MRI on Saturday which showed no damage to his elbow ligament beyond typical wear and tear, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Chapman hit the injured list earlier in the day due to elbow inflammation, and it looks as if, for now, he isn't dealing with anything worse than that. The Yankees have yet to specify when he's expected to return, but it looks as though he'll have a chance at a relatively brief absence. Chad Green and Jonathan Loaisiga are tied for second on the team with three saves apiece and could be the top candidates for saves in his absence.

Warren (1-0) earned the win over the Dodgers on Friday, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit. He did not walk or strike out any batters.

The rookie right-hander was tasked with keeping an explosive Dodgers offense at bay late in the contest and succeeded impressively, allowing just an AJ Pollock single. Warren threw 19 of 28 pitches for strikes and registered his third scoreless outing through four big-league appearances. He has yielded only one earned run while posting a 5:0 K:BB across six innings overall.

Borucki was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Borucki rejoined the major-league bullpen in mid-July after he was reinstated from the 60-day injured list, but he posted a lackluster 7.50 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in six innings across seven relief appearances. The southpaw will attempt to right the ship against Triple-A competition.

Mayza was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation Saturday.

Mayza tossed a scoreless inning against Cleveland on Thursday to earn his 12th hold of the season. However, he'll spend some time on the shelf due to his elbow injury. The Blue Jays reportedly aren't too concerned about the issue, and they're hopeful Mayza will return after a brief absence, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports. Right-hander Patrick Murphy and left-hander Kirby Snead were among the pitchers who were recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Yarbrough didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Orioles after allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four across five innings.

Yarbrough has kept the walks in check all season long and hasn't handed more than two free passes in any outing thus far, but the excellent control he has displayed all year long hasn't been enough of late. He has given up five or more runs in three of his last four starts and owns a 5.51 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP across six starts since the beginning of July, a span in which he's also gone 2-1 with three straight no-decisions.

Abreu (1-0) earned the win in relief Friday against the Mariners after pitching a scoreless inning.

Abreu didn't strike anyone out in this one and needed 19 pitches (11 strikes) to get the job done, but perhaps the most important thing is that he responded in a high-leverage situation. He owns a 4.91 ERA on the season but seems to be trending in the right path with two straight scoreless outings. He has 2.25 ERA across three appearances this month.

Peralta didn't factor into the decision Friday against Seattle after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning two.

Peralta was reinstated from COVID-19 injured list Thursday. As expected, he didn't pitch deep into the game and only recorded five outs before being lifted. That said, this was his longest outing of the campaign since he hadn't completed more than 1.1 innings in any outing this season prior to Friday's. He now owns a 4.94 ERA on the season.

McHugh (arm) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

McHugh's weekend activation was expected after he threw a 21-pitch bullpen session Wednesday. The right-hander didn't require a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the major-league bullpen, and he'll be in the mix for ninth-inning duties with Pete Fairbanks (shoulder), J.P. Feyereisen (biceps) and Nick Anderson (elbow) sidelined.

Nelson was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Nelson spent just over two weeks in the minors but will rejoin the Yankees' bullpen after Aroldis Chapman (elbow) was placed on the injured list. The right-hander allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and five walks while striking out nine in 6.1 innings across four relief appearances during his recent time at Triple-A.
