Dubin had his contract selected by the Astros on Friday.

Dubin will join the 40-man roster as Houston has opted to shield him from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. The 26-year-old had a 3.44 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69:19 K:BB over 49.2 innings at Triple-A last season and is a strong candidate to make his MLB debut in 2022.

Sousa had his contract selected by the White Sox on Friday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Sousa was a member of Chicago's 60-man player pool for the 2020 campaign but never saw big-league action. The left-hander split last season between Double-A and Triple-A, and he pitched well at both levels with combined 3.61 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 71:20 K:BB over 47.1 innings. He'll have an outside chance at a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong showing in spring training.

Diplan agreed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Orioles on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Diplan spent the 2021 season in the Orioles' organization, and he split his time between the big-league club and Triple-A Norfolk. He pitched exclusively out of the bullpen and posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with a 24:15 K:BB across 30 innings for Baltimore. While he'll begin spring training off the 40-man roster, he should have the opportunity to earn a roster spot if he can perform well in spring training.

The Orioles announced Monday that Akin underwent a hip adductor repair procedure earlier in the offseason, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The procedure is viewed as a minor one, as the 26-year-old lefty is expected to resume a normal offseason training program within the next few weeks. Before he was shut down for the final two weeks of the regular season due to the left adductor strain, Akin started in 17 of his 24 appearances for Baltimore and submitted a 6.63 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 82:40 K:BB across 95 innings. Assuming he's back to full health for spring training, Akin will likely have to compete for a spot in the Baltimore rotation.

The Pirates designated Soriano (elbow) for assignment and returned him to the Angels on Sunday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The Rule 5 pick from a year ago is recovering from his second Tommy John surgery and is unlikely to pitch in 2022. Soriano's only professional action since 2019 was the pair of rehab games he pitched this past May before re-injuring his elbow, so he'll be coming off a nearly four-year hiatus if he returns and pitches again.

Rodriguez agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Yankees on Wednesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

The Yankees paid the left-hander's $500,000 buyout earlier in the week rather than exercise his $3 million club option for 2022, so the team ended up retaining him at a savings of $500,000. Rodriguez appeared in 21 games after being sent to New York from Texas and posted a 2.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB over 19 innings with the Yankees.

Garcia (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia missed the entire 2021 campaign after he underwent Tommy John surgery in March. His deal is pending a physical, but he'll be in the mix to pitch in the minors during the second half of the 2022 season if his recovery goes smoothly.

Carlton cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Carlton was optioned to Triple-A in late September and has now been removed from Detroit's 40-man roster. The 26-year-old made his big-league debut during 2021 with four appearances but spent most of the year at Toledo, where he posted a 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 49:10 K:BB over 52.1 innings.

Rodriguez (lat) underwent capsule repair surgery on his right shoulder Monday and is expected to miss most of the 2022 season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Rodriguez missed the final seven weeks of the 2021 campaign with a right lat strain, and the shoulder procedure will now cost him the majority of 2022. The 23-year-old made his big-league debut for the Angels in 2021 and posted a 3.64 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 29:15 K:BB across 29.2 innings.

Baker was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Baker tossed a single major-league inning this season, the first of his career. The 26-year-old spent the bulk of the year at Triple-A Buffalo, where he cruised to a 1.31 ERA in 41.1 innings of relief.
