Montero struck out one batter in a perfect inning and notched a save against Detroit on Friday.

With Ryan Pressly (rest) getting Friday off, Montero jumped back into the closer role and earned his third save over his last four appearances. The 31-year-old needed just 14 pitches (nine strikes) to retire the Tigers in order. He's now allowed just one run while posting a 17:3 K:BB through 12.1 frames on the year.

Pressly (rest) is unavailable out of the Astros' bullpen Friday against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

This is a fairly fluid situation in the ninth inning, so it's worth noting that while Rafael Montero may get the save chance, Pressly was not considered a viable option after throwing 21 pitches in his first game off the injured list Thursday. Granted, that was a blown save, so Pressly's role is still up in the air going forward.

Hendriks struck out three and walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to pick up the save against the Red Sox.

He was tasked with protecting a two-run lead, and apart from walking Christian Vazquez, he was perfect, striking out Franchy Cordero, Jackie Bradley and Jarren Duran to pick up his eighth save of the season. Hendriks wasn't stellar out of the gate this season, but he now has five straight scoreless appearances under his belt and four saves over that stretch.

Guerra cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The former shortstop prospect turned reliever showed signs of promise a few years ago with San Diego, but it's been mostly a struggle for him in his new role. He gave up three home runs and walked four in 7.1 innings in the majors this season.

Moran was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

He struck out five and did not allow a run in 2.2 innings, pitching Wednesday and Thursday. The Twins will call up Cole Sands to provide a fresh arm out of the bullpen.

Sands is one of the Twins' top pitching prospects, but this will likely be an opportunity to work out of the big-league bullpen. He has struggled this year at Triple-A, logging a 7.82 ERA in 12.2 innings through four appearances, but he had a 2.46 ERA in 80.1 innings last year at Double-A.

Schreiber was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old was demoted to Worcester last week but will return to Boston with Rich Hill (undisclosed) landing on the COVID-19 injured list. Schreiber has appeared in two big-league games this season and has delivered 2.1 scoreless innings.

Hernandez and the Royals won't play against the Orioles on Friday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Friday's matchup will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Hernandez will take the mound Saturday against Baltimore, while Daniel Lynch will take the mound in Sunday's matinee with Zack Greinke pitching in the nightcap. Hernandez has posted a 6.00 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in 18 innings over four starts this season.

Lakins was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Lakins struggled through five relief appearances during his time on the team, giving up nine runs on 12 hits and four walks in 8.1 innings of work. His roster spot will be taken by Logan Allen, who was claimed off waivers from Cleveland.

Winder is listed as the starter for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Winder was considered likely to make a second turn through the rotation, and he'll officially be on the mound for Friday's series opener against Oakland. He struck out seven in six scoreless innings to earn the win in his first major-league start Sunday against the Rays.
