Sands (0-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings against the Yankees. He struck out three.

Sands struggled in his second start of the season, allowing four runs and throwing 89 pitches in just 3.2 innings to take a second straight loss. In four appearances this season, Sands has now generated an unwieldy 8.49.

Montero walked three but pitched a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold Tuesday against the Mariners.

Montero was called upon to protect a one-run lead, but he walked the bases loaded after recording only one out. However, he got Abraham Toro to ground into a double play to sidestep any damage. Montero's struggle to find the strike zone is likely to be an aberration, as he had surrendered only five free passes across 21.2 innings entering Tuesday's appearance. Montero has been excellent in a high-leverage role for the Astros this season, delivering a 1.99 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB.

Kittredge allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in the eighth inning Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Kittredge entered the game in the eighth inning with a one-run lead. He retired the two batters he faced with little trouble but allowed a walk and consecutive singles to cough up the advantage. Kittredge has made two appearances since returning from the injured list Sunday, with neither coming in a save situation. It's possible that the team wants to ease him back into the closer role, but they have also utilized a fairly successful committee of Colin Poche and Brooks Raley -- among others -- to close out games.

Robles (back) was scheduled to pitch an inning for Triple-A Worcester in Buffalo on Tuesday, but the game was rained out.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. Assuming Robles pitches an inning Wednesday, his return to the Red Sox could be delayed at least one day. There was talk of him returning for the final game of the series against the Angels on Thursday -- the first day he's eligible -- but his return could be pushed to Friday against the Mariners.

Trivino (1-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Braves. He allowed one run on two hits and zero walks while striking out two over one inning.

Trivino entered a tie game in the seventh inning, but he continued a disappointing 2022 campaign by allowing a solo home run to Guillermo Heredia. The struggling reliever not only lost his closer job earlier this season but now has a 6.91 ERA.

Clase recorded his 10th save of the season in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rangers, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

The right-hander is firing on all cylinders to begin June, posting a 6:0 K:BB over four scoreless appearances while converting all three of his save chances. Clase continues to put a shaky start to the campaign behind him and now boasts a 2.01 ERA. 0.85 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB through 22.1 innings.

Barlow recorded his 11th save of the season during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Guardians, walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.

The right-hander's lack of dominance remains a concern, but as long as he's getting the job done for the Rangers his closer job seems secure. Over the last month, Barlow has converted eight of nine save chances with a 2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and poor 6:6 K:BB through 12 innings.

Hearn (4-4) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Guardians, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

The southpaw took a shutout into the sixth inning before running into trouble and getting the hook one out short of his second quality start of the season. Hearn remains inconsistent, but the Rangers seem willing to live with the 27-year-old's growing pains as he handles a regular rotation spot for the first time. He'll take a 5.40 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 47:25 K:BB through 50 innings into his next start.

Gillaspie allowed a hit and a walk with one strikeout in a scoreless inning during Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Cubs.

Gillaspie has kept runs off the board in eight of his nine appearances this season, and this was just the third time he's allowed multiple baserunners. The 25-year-old has pitched to a 1.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 3:2 K:BB and a blown save in nine innings. He's likely had a little good luck on his side so far, but he's also been effective keeping the ball in the yard and limiting walks. Gillaspie will likely continue to pitch in a low-leverage role going forward.

Loasiga (shoulder) is currently tending to a family matter in Nicaragua, Bryan Hoch and Brian Hall of MLB.com report.

Loaisiga went on the on the injured list May 25 with right shoulder discomfort, and he was subsequently shut down from throwing for 10 days. The right-hander has since left the country, though manager Aaron Boone stated that Loaisiga may throw while in Nicaragua. The expectation is that Loaisiga will return to action by the end of June.
