Castillo was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Castillo has made four appearances out of the bullpen with the Blue Jays this season and has maintained a strong 2.16 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB across 8.1 innings. He's served as a starter at times with Buffalo this year, throwing as many as seven innings in an outing. That could make him a candidate to take over the rotation spot of Yusei Kikuchi (neck), who was placed on the injured list in the corresponding move.

Lawrence is expected to serve as Toronto's primary pitcher behind opener Anthony Banda against Seattle on Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Kevin Gausman (ankle) is unable to start Thursday, so the Blue Jays will instead turn to Banda and Lawrence to cover the early innings in the series opener versus the Mariners. Lawrence surrendered six runs over 5.2 innings during his previous appearance for Toronto on July 2, when he served as long relief in a doubleheader.

Banda will serve as the opener during Thursday's game against the Mariners, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Banda was traded from the Pirates to the Blue Jays on Saturday, and he tossed a scoreless relief inning during his team debut Monday. The southpaw hasn't made a start since 2018 but will work ahead of primary pitcher Casey Lawrence during Thursday's matchup.

Marte was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Marte failed to make the Angels' Opening Day roster this year and wasn't particularly sharp in Salt Lake over the first few months of the season. He posted a 6.65 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 23 innings over 24 relief appearances and will now provide bullpen depth for the Angels.

Manager Tony La Russa said Thursday that Bummer (shoulder) isn't yet throwing off a mound, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Bummer has been on the injured list since June 12 due to a left lat strain but has made slow progress in his recovery over the past month. He's unlikely to have a return timetable until he's able to progress in a throwing program.

Jimenez (shoulder) has progressed to throwing out to 90 feet this week, but he still needs to be stretched out over the next 7-10 days, the Associated Press reports.

The right-hander has made steady progress over the last few days, considering he hadn't picked up a ball during his recovery until Monday. Even though Jimenez appears to have made up some ground quickly, this report implies the Athletics will remain cautious with him with respect to an activation date. There's likely a chance Jimenez is sent on a brief rehab assignment as well, given he went on the injured list June 21.

Warren (triceps) allowed one run on one hit and one walk in one inning with Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. He struck out one batter.

Warren made his first rehab appearance June 28 and has had three additional outings since. In total, he's allowed two runs while notching a 4:4 K:BB over 3.2 frames. Per Sam Blum of The Athletic, Warren is expected to be activated from the IL without needing another minor-league appearance.

Clarke has not allowed a run in his last six innings.

Clarke has four holds and a blown save in that span -- he allowed an inherited runner to score the tying run July 4 against the Astros. With just two hits and a walk allowed during his scoreless streak, Clarke has earned a few more looks in high-leverage situations. He pitched the eighth inning in a one-run game Wednesday, which could happen more often while Josh Staumont (neck) is sidelined. For the year, Clarke has a 4.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 33:5 K:BB, one save, eight holds, three blown saves and a 1-1 record through 36.1 innings.

Coleman struck out one in a perfect inning during Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Astros, earning a hold.

Since the start of June, Coleman has a 2.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB across 13 innings, and he's also picked up four of his five holds this year in that span. The right-hander's biggest issue is a high walk rate -- he's posted a 6.5 BB/9 this year, which is a trouble that's followed him from the minors. He's pitched to a decent 3.51 ERA, but a 1.38 WHIP and 36:24 K:BB in 33.1 innings this year are concerning enough to likely keep him stuck in middle relief.

Silseth is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Orioles in Baltimore.

He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation after he struck out six over 4.1 innings while allowing three earned runs in a no-decision against the White Sox on June 28 following his call-up from Double-A Rocket City. Over five starts with the big club this season, the 22-year-old right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 20.2 innings.
