Silseth is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Orioles in Baltimore.

He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation after he struck out six over 4.1 innings while allowing three earned runs in a no-decision against the White Sox on June 28 following his call-up from Double-A Rocket City. Over five starts with the big club this season, the 22-year-old right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 20.2 innings.

Lopez gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 14th save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Rangers.

The right-hander fired 11 of 14 pitches for strikes as he snapped a streak of three straight appearances in which he allowed runs, and picked up his first save since June 24. Despite those recent stumbles, Lopez still has a 1.83 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB through 39.1 innings on the year, numbers which could make him an attractive trade target for a contender looking to bolster its bullpen.

Otto (4-5) took the loss Wednesday as the Rangers fell 2-1 to the Orioles, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Both runs crossed the plate in the second inning, as with two outs and two runners in scoring position, Corey Seager attempted to make a bare-handed play on a soft grounder, only to throw the ball away and allow two runs to score instead of just one on the infield single. Otto got the hook after 91 pitches (58 strikes) and no further damage, but the Rangers' offense couldn't erase the deficit. It was the right-hander's best effort in three starts since returning from the COVID-19 list, but on the season he still carries a shaky 5.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 40:32 K:BB through 51.1 innings.

Texas manager Chris Woodward said Howard is expected to get another start after re-entering the Rangers' rotation Tuesday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. "His stuff is good enough to get anybody out. It (was) his first start back so I figured there might be some inconsistency to it, and hopefully the next time out, he's better," Woodward said.

Howard gave up four runs over four innings against the Orioles on Tuesday. Other than the second inning, when he allowed all the runs to score, Howard made a positive impression on Woodward. The right-hander has pitched well in the minors, posting a 3.69 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 10 starts, but the results against MLB hitters has been the opposite (10.97 ERA, six HR in 10.2 IP). Having removed Taylor Hearn from the rotation, the Rangers are looking at Howard and Glenn Otto to take hold at the back end of the rotation.

Hendriks did not allow a baserunner while striking out two in a clean ninth inning Wednesday against the Twins.

Hendriks made his second appearance since being activated from the injured list July 4. He threw in the eighth inning in his initial outing but returned to the traditional closer role Wednesday to appear in the top of the ninth frame in a tied game. Hendriks hasn't shown any signs of rust, as he has yet to allow a baserunner while striking out five across two innings since his return.

Barlow earned a save against the Astros on Wednesday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up one hit and struck out two batters.

Barlow entered in the ninth inning with Kansas City up by three runs, and he was able to close out the contest by retiring three of the four batters he faced. The right-hander racked up five whiffs on just 18 pitches and threw a first-pitch strike to each hitter he faced. Barlow has converted 13 of 15 save opportunities on the season and holds a 2.39 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 37.2 innings.

Alcala (elbow) remains in a holding pattern and hasn't made progress after being shut down once again June 1 with tightness in his pitching elbow, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

There have been conflicting reports on whether Alcala is set to throw again or has been shut down for an extended period. Either way, it doesn't sound like he has a chance to return any time soon. Alcala has been on the injured list since April 12 with right elbow inflammation. He made a rehab appearance June 1 but was later shut down again with tightness in his pitching elbow.

Romano pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two on his way to a save in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Athletics.

Romano was called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth and he produced a 1-2-3 inning while punching out two batters. The save was his 18th of the season in 21 opportunities. Romano has now produced four straight scoreless outings following a blown save June 21 versus the White Sox, and he now owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 34 strikeouts over 30 frames in 31 appearances this season.

King was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

King has been a piece of Texas' bullpen all season but will now make his way to the minors. He has a 4.60 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 22:13 K:BB across 31.1 innings this season.

Diplan was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday.

After being sent down by the Orioles on June 25, the right-hander will lose his spot on the 40-man roster since the Orioles claimed left-hander Kirk McCarty off waivers from the Guardians on Wednesday. Diplan will likely remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
