Manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Winder (shoulder) will be shut down, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Winder landed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday due to right shoulder impingement syndrome, and he'll require more than the minimum amount of time on the shelf. Baldelli didn't say that the right-hander's season is over, but Winder will be examined further in the coming days to help pinpoint a cause for his recurring shoulder issues.

Jimenez (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Jimenez has progressed smoothly in his recovery from a shoulder strain over the last several weeks. He's thrown several bullpen sessions and faced live hitters Tuesday. The right-hander isn't expected to require a lengthy rehab assignment, so he'll likely be able to rejoin the Athletics' bullpen sometime next week.

Honeywell (elbow) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Honeywell was able to increase his pitch load to 40 during Wednesday's session after tossing 35 on Saturday. The Athletics' head trainer Nick Paparesta said the session "went great" and the right-hander remains on the road to recovery after he suffered a stress reaction on his right elbow in March.

Coulombe recently underwent surgery to repair his left hip labrum, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Coulombe has been on the injured list with a hip issue since late May, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL. The southpaw will be unable to return this season following his procedure, and it's not yet clear whether he's expected to be ready for spring training next year. The 32-year-old posted a 1.46 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 12.1 innings over 10 relief appearances in 2022.

Quijada earned a hold against Kansas City on Tuesday by pitching 1.2 scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit and one walk.

Jose Suarez opened the game with 5.1 scoreless frames for the Angels, but he ran into trouble by loading the bases with one out in the sixth. Quijada came to the rescue, inducing a fielder's-choice groundout and a flyout to keep the Royals off the scoreboard. The southpaw has picked up two holds so far in July, giving up only one run over 7.1 frames while posting a 9:4 K:BB.

Norris will build up as a starter at Triple-A Toledo, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Norris served mainly as a reliever for the Cubs early in the season before he was granted his unconditional release over the weekend. He signed a minor-league deal with Detroit on Tuesday, and the team will see how he responds to a starter's workload over the coming weeks.

Warren was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Warren will head back to Triple-A on Wednesday, creating an opening on the active roster for Wednesday's starter Janson Junk. Warren has surrendered five runs on seven hits while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings in five appearances with the Angels since returning from the IL on July 12. He'll remain a candidate for a potential call-up down the road.

Hill is scheduled to make his next start Sunday in Toronto, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Hill was returned to Triple-A Toledo after he served as the Tigers' 27th man and starting pitcher in the second game of their doubleheader last Thursday with the Athletics, but Detroit brought him back from the minors this week after fellow starter Rony Garcia (biceps) was moved to the injured list in a corresponding move. The rookie was shaky in a no-decision Tuesday against the Padres, working five innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks. In spite of his unremarkable results through his first four big-league starts -- he sports a 5.57 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 21 innings -- Hill looks like he'll keep holding down a rotation spot while Detroit's starting pitching depth continues to be thinned by injuries.

Alexander is slated to start Thursday's series opener in Toronto, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

When Alexander was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in mid-June, the Tigers initially used him in a relief role, but an assortment of injuries to other starting pitchers has prompted manager A.J. Hinch to move the lefty back into the bullpen. Alexander made his fourth start of the season coming out of the All-Star break and acquitted himself well last Thursday against the Blue Jays, tossing three scoreless frames and allowing one baserunner before turning the game over to the bullpen. Since he's not yet fully stretched back out, Alexander could be on a limited pitch count in his rematch Thursday with Toronto.

Kowar was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.

Kowar will return to the Royals just one day after being sent down to Omaha. He'll replace Angel Zerpa (knee) on the active roster after the latter was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Kowar has produced a 8.80 ERA over 15.1 innings in six appearances with Kansas City this year.
