Winckowski (5-5) allowed a run on five hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Royals on Friday.

Winckowski's lone mistake resulted in a solo home run by Salvador Perez in the fifth inning. This was Winckowski's second win in a row after he lost four straight starts in July. The right-hander owns a 4.68 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 32:18 K:BB through 50 innings across 10 outings overall. The 24-year-old is tentatively projected for a home start versus the Orioles next week.

Holmes (5-3) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one innings, taking a blown save and the loss Friday versus the Cardinals.

Holmes was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the eighth inning, but he allowed a two-run double to Paul DeJong. The Yankees couldn't even the score, leaving Holmes with his second loss and second blown save in as many appearances. Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reported after the game that manager Aaron Boone said Aroldis Chapman would have received a save chance had Holmes held the lead. With Holmes' form slipping, his time as the Yankees' closer could be drawing to a close. The right-hander has a 2.12 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 50:14 K:BB while going 17-for-21 in save chances across 46.2 innings this season.

Poche yielded a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Tigers, striking out one and earning his seventh save of the year.

Poche had two runners on base with two outs but he managed to strike out Riley Greene to preserve the 5-3 win. The 6-foot-3 southpaw picked up his first save since July 13 after blowing his previous two opportunities. He's now sporting a 3.00 ERA and a 35:14 K:BB through 39 appearances.

Romano (3-3) allowed an unearned run without recording an out to take the extra-inning loss Friday versus the Twins.

Romano struck out Jake Cave, but Cave hustled to first to reach on a throwing error by Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen. After that, Tim Beckham's fielder's choice was enough to bring home phantom runner Nick Gordon, giving Romano his third loss of the season and his first since May 10. The Blue Jays' closer has allowed a run in each of his two August appearances, but he still sports a 2.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB with 25 saves in 28 chances through 39.2 innings this year.

Hendriks struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning and earned a save over the Rangers on Friday.

Hendriks threw eight of 10 pitches for strikes and had no issue rolling through the Rangers to finish off the 2-1 win. He's now converted 13 consecutive saves since blowing back-to-back chances in May. The veteran righty lowered his season ERA to 3.11 alongside a stellar 56:9 K:BB through 37.2 frames.

Otto (4-8) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out seven and taking the loss against Texas.

Otto gave up one run through three frames before serving up a go-ahead solo shot to Eloy Jimenez. The 6-foot-3 righty lowered his season ERA to 5.31 after allowing fewer than three runs for just the second time in his last eight appearances. He also tied his season best with seven punchouts. Otto will carry a 64:39 K:BB into his projected outing in Houston next week.

Chapman would have closed Friday's game against the Cardinals if Clay Holmes had held the one-run lead in the eighth inning, according to manager Aaron Boone, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Holmes came on to pitch the eighth inning with a 3-2 lead and proceeded to give up two runs, denying Chapman a save opportunity in the ninth inning. Chapman has a 6.10 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 14 strikeouts in 10.1 innings across 12 appearances since he returned to action July 2.

Lopez allowed a run on three hits in one inning in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.

Lopez allowed three singles, the last two of which came with two outs and allowed the Blue Jays to tie the game at 5-5. He's now 1-for-2 in save chances with the Twins, and Friday's stumble was his fifth blown save of the season. The right-hander has posted a 1.79 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB across 50.1 innings while adding 20 saves and a 4-6 record. The former Oriole closer's performance this year should give him some leeway, but Michael Fulmer or Jhoan Duran figure to pick up save chances if Lopez needs a day off or enters a slump.

White has been confirmed as Saturday's starter against the Twins, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

He is currently on the taxi squad in Minnesota and will be activated Saturday. For at least as long as Ross Stripling (glute) is on the injured list, White should serve as Toronto's fifth starter. He has a 3.05 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 44.1 innings over nine appearances since getting stretched out by the Dodgers in late May.

Sands was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

The 25-year-old was demoted to St. Paul in mid-June but will return to the big-league club Friday. Sands received his first taste of MLB action this year and has an 8.82 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 16.1 innings.
