Duffey signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Duffey was released by the Twins on Monday after struggling to a 4.91 ERA in 44 innings this season. It's not surprising that he quickly latched on with another club, however, as he cruised to a 2.69 ERA from 2019 to 2021. A modest bounceback would make Duffey a useful option down the stretch for the Rangers, and a full return to his previous form would make him one of the team's best relievers.

Logue will start Saturday against the Astros and remain in the rotation going forward, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Logue has made seven starts and one relief appearance this season, with generally disappointing results. His ERA sits at 4.79, but it could be even worse considering his 17.2 percent strikeout rate and 25.2 percent groundball rate. His 6.29 ERA in 14 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas doesn't inspire much confidence either, but the Athletics will nonetheless give him another look down the stretch.

Mayza (shoulder) threw off a mound Friday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Mayza landed on the 15-day IL with a dislocated shoulder Sunday, but it's encouraging that he's been cleared to resume mound work less than a week later. The Blue Jays hope that the southpaw will be able to return around the end of August.

Pearson (lat) progressed to throwing from 150 feet Friday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The 25-year-old resumed a throwing program in July and continues to build up his arm strength with long toss. Pearson could soon be cleared to begin mound work, and he'll likely need a couple weeks to ramp up before potentially embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment.

Giles (shoulder) was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Friday.

Giles made his Mariners debut in late June and tossed 4.1 scoreless innings over five appearances before sustaining a shoulder injury. He spent the last month recovering and posted a 3.60 ERA and 0.80 WHIP in five innings over five rehab appearances. While the right-hander is back to full health, he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him become a free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Hall is expected to start Saturday's game against the Rays, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Hall has made 18 starts at Triple-A Norfolk this season, posting a 4.76 ERA, 114:44 K:BB and 1.49 WHIP in 70 innings. Several of the Orioles' starters are dealing with injuries, so Hall will get an opportunity to make his major-league debut. The southpaw was a first-round pick by Baltimore in 2017 and has a fastball that can touch triple digits with strong secondary pitches, but he's dealt with injuries and command issues over the last several seasons. Assuming he is ultimately tabbed as Saturday's starting pitcher, it's not yet clear whether he'll remain for multiple turns through the big-league rotation.

Norris had his contract selected by the Tigers and will start Friday against the White Sox.

Norris was previously announced as Friday's starter and has now officially been added to the 40-man and 26-man rosters. The veteran left-hander posted a 6.90 ERA across 30 innings out of the bullpen for the Cubs before being cut loose in late July, and he quickly reunited with the Tigers on a minor-league deal and began building up as a starter.

Karinchak was placed on the restricted list Friday.

Karinchak is unvaccinated and will be unable to travel with the Guardians for their weekend series in Toronto. The right-hander should rejoin the team ahead of Monday's series opener against the Tigers, while Peyton Battenfield's contract was selected to provide additional bullpen depth this weekend.

De Los Santos (3-0) struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in two-thirds of an inning Thursday, earning the extra-inning win over the Tigers.

De Los Santos took a blown save for allowing an inherited runner to score the tying run on a fielder's choice in the ninth inning, but the Guardians regained the lead in the top of the 10th. The right-hander had been charged with one run in each of his three previous appearances. He's filled a middle-relief role for much of his time in the majors this year, pitching to a 3.22 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB while adding a save and two holds through 36.1 innings.

Soto (2-7) allowed an unearned run on one hit across an inning of work to take the loss in Thursday's extra-inning contest against the Guardians.

Soto worked the top of the 10th inning, which meant dealing with the automatic runner on second base, and he allowed the runner to score on a two-out single by Oscar Gonzalez. The Detroit closer has taken losses in two of his last three appearances, though he's in no real danger of losing his job at this point with a 3.10 ERA and 20 saves in 22 chances this season.
