Schreiber earned the save Saturday, allowing one walk and striking out one batter over a scoreless 1.1 innings in a 5-1 win over the Rays.

Schreiber put the kibosh on a Tampa Bay rally in the eighth inning, coming on with two runners on base and the potential tying run on deck. It was his fifth save, four of which have been converted by getting more than three outs. The Red Sox may have found something in the 28-year-old right-handed reliever, who has a 2.24 ERA and 0.88 WHIP over 52.1 innings. He's not expected to take over the closer's role, but Schreiber's in the mix along with Garrett Whitlock, who will likely get most of the opportunities.

Clase saved Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mariners, tossing a perfect ninth inning. He failed to record a strikeout.

Clase was brought in to pitch the ninth inning of a one-run game and made quick work of the top of Seattle's lineup by sealing the deal with six pitches, all of them going for strikes. The save, his 30th of the season, puts the 24-year-old ahead of Kenley Jansen, Josh Hader and Taylor Rogers for the MLB lead as he's converted 24 consecutive chances dating back to May 14. Clase has posted a 0.87 ERA across 10.1 August innings to improve his ERA and WHIP to 1.17 and 0.65, respectively.

Trivino (2-8) took the loss during Saturday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Athletics, allowing an unearned run on one walk while recording one strikeout in one inning.

Trivino entered with two on and one out in the 10th inning and was able to escape the jam by striking out Shea Langeliers, but he didn't have as much luck when a DJ LeMahieu error on a potential inning-ending double play let the winning run score in the 11th. The 30-year-old has been lights out since joining New York at the beginning of August, permitting a single run in 10 innings across 12 appearances, and he has taken on a larger role of late as manager Aaron Boone attempts to get the team back on track.

Puk pitched one inning during Saturday's 3-2 win against the Yankees, allowing two unearned runs on two walks and a hit-by-pitch with one strikeout.

Puk was tabbed to pitch the top of the 10th of a scoreless tie and loaded the bases with one out following a fielder's choice, walk and HBP. A subsequent wild pitch let two runs in and put the 27-year-old lefty in line for the loss, though Oakland was able to rally in the bottom of the 10th and walk it off in the 11th. Puk has now surrendered two runs in two of his last three outings and possesses an even 5.00 ERA across seven August innings after taking on a larger role this month.

Oller registered a no-decision during Saturday's 3-2 win against the Yankees, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts across eight scoreless innings.

Oller submitted the best start of his short career by far in allowing only three baserunners and facing the minimum 24 batters thanks to a double play, pickoff and caught stealing. The 27-year-old fired 65 of 88 pitches for strikes with 10 of the swinging variety and got ahead often with first-pitch strikes to 19 of 24 batters. The excellent start lowers Oller's ERA and WHIP to 5.66 and 1.52 respectively, and he's scheduled to take the mound again next weekend in Baltimore.

Herget picked up a save against Toronto on Saturday, striking out two batters in two perfect innings.

Shohei Ohtani tossed seven splendid scoreless innings but needed relief after throwing 109 pitches. Herget came on and completed the shutout with two outstanding frames of his own. The right-hander didn't allow any baserunners and threw 15 of 24 pitches for strikes. Herget has completed at least two innings in four of his past five outings and has allowed only one run while posting a 10:3 K:BB over 9.2 frames during that stretch. He isn't typically the Angels' closer of choice, but with three saves on the campaign, Herget could get a few more chances to close down the stretch.

Bautista struck out three without allowing a baserunner in 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Astros.

Bautista peppered the strike zone, throwing 13 of his 15 pitches for strikes and inducing an impressive six whiffs. It's his third straight appearance of more than one inning -- he's struck out eight with one hit-by-pitch and no hits or walks allowed through five innings in that span. He's now collected eight saves since ascending to the closer role full-time, and the hard-throwing righty has 10 saves in 57 innings across 57 appearances. He's pitched to a stellar 1.58 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 76:16 K:BB.

Kelly left Saturday's appearance with a bruised left knee, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Kelly was forced to exit after getting hit by a comebacker off the bat of Jake McCarthy with no outs in the top of the ninth. He left with the bases loaded and was ultimately charged with three earned runs. The X-rays came back negative on the right-hander's knee and he's considered day-to-day moving forward.

Pruitt's contract was selected by the Athletics on Saturday.

Pruitt was designated for assignment Monday, but he's back again just five days later after Dany Jimenez hit the 60-day injured list with a strained right shoulder. Pruitt owns a 4.78 ERA in 37.2 innings this season, so he's unlikely to pitch in a high-leverage role.

Jimenez was placed on the 60-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder srain.

Jimenez last pitched Wednesday versus the Marlins and apparently left the appearance a little worse for wear, as his move to the 60-day IL with the strained shoulder ensures he'll miss the rest of the season. He finishes the 2022 campaign with a 3.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 34 strikeouts, 11 saves and four holds over 34.1 innings in 34 appearances with the Athletics. Austin Pruitt had his contract selected from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday and will replace Jimenez in Oakland's bullpen.
