The Rays plan to select Criswell's contract from Triple-A Durham to have him start Monday's game in Toronto, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Monday likely would have been Ryan Yarbrough's day to pitch, but he was needed to cover five innings in long relief during Sunday's 10-4 loss to the Yankees after starter Luis Patino coughed up nine earned runs while recording just four outs before departing the contest. As a result, the Rays will turn to Criswell to make his team debut Monday in what could end up being a brief stint in the big leagues. Since being claimed off waivers from the Angels in mid-July and outrighted off the 40-man roster a few days later, Criswell has been pitching 3-to-4 innings in his starts with Durham. Over 27.1 total innings with the affiliate this season, Criswell has produced a 3.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB.

Pilkington is scheduled to start Monday's series opener against the Angels at Progressive Field.

Since getting called up from Triple-A Columbus just over a week ago, Pilkington has made only one two-inning relief appearance for Cleveland, but he'll get the chance to join the rotation while Zach Plesac (hand) and Aaron Civale (forearm) are on the injured list. Though Pilkington was a full-time starter at Columbus and previously made nine starts for Cleveland earlier this season, he may not be counted on to work more than 4-to-5 innings Monday as the Guardians aim to optimize his performance. Long reliever Kirk McCarty could be called upon to piggyback Pilkington, if the Guardians elect to go that route.

Faucher was optioned to Triple-A Durham following Sunday's loss to the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Faucher was called up by the Rays at the end of August, but he allowed three runs in 1.2 innings over a pair of relief appearances during the team's weekend series against the Yankees. He'll attempt to sort things out in Durham, where he's posted a 3.73 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 41 innings over 32 appearances (four starts) this year.

Patino was optioned to Triple-A Durham following Sunday's loss to the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Patino made two turns through the Rays' rotation over the last week, but he'll head back to the minors after he gave up nine runs on five hits and four walks while failing to strike out a batter in 1.1 innings Sunday. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 34 innings over nine Triple-A starts and could be an option to rejoin the major-league club if the Rays need a spot starter down the stretch.

Barnes struck out two in a perfect frame to earn a save over the Orioles on Sunday.

Barnes needed just 10 pitches to finish off the 1-0 victory and pick up his first save since Aug. 31. He's now converted five of his seven chances on the year and lowered his ERA to 5.40 through 31.2 frames. Since the start of August, Barnes owns a 15:6 K:BB and a 2.45 ERA across 16 appearances.

Alexander (3-10) took the loss Sunday in Kansas City, allowing four runs on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out two in five innings.

The damage against Alexander could have been worse as he was the beneficiary of two unconventional double plays -- one on a sacrifice fly and the other after a strikeout. Three of the six hits allowed went for extra bases, including Michael Massey's fourth-inning solo homer. Alexander has struggled mightily in his last four starts, going 0-3 with a 10.06 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and seven homers allowed in 17 innings and raising his season ERA from 4.03 to 5.35. Should he continue to start for Detroit, his next outing will likely be next weekend against the White Sox.

Sewald (4-4) blew a save but picked up the win during Sunday's 8-7 victory over the Braves, allowing two runs on two hits and a hit-by-pitch in one-third of an inning.

Sewald was brought in to get the game's final out after Diego Castillo served up a three-run Michael Harris home run that cut Seattle's lead to one. The 30-year-old immediately surrendered a single followed by a Robbie Grossman home run to fall in line for the loss until Seattle rallied for a walkoff win in the bottom of the frame. The rough outing snapped a seven-appearance scoreless streak, and Sewald has now blown a save in two of his last four games. He still possesses an excellent 2.67 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with 66 strikeouts in 57.1 innings across 59 appearances on the season.

Patino (1-2) allowed nine runs on five hits and four walks over 1.1 innings while taking a loss against the Yankees on Sunday.

Patino failed to record a strikeout while coughing up three home runs in the brutal loss. He served up a pair of three-run blasts, one apiece to Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton. The 22-year-old righty saw his season ERA skyrocket to 8.10 with an 11:13 K:BB through 20 MLB innings. With Shane McClanahan (shoulder) expected back next week, it's unclear if Patino will get another turn in the rotation.

Davidson (1-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk over two innings in a 12-4 loss to Houston. He struck out two.

After recording two scoreless innings to start the game, disaster unfolded for Davidson and the Angels in the third. Mauricio Dubon led off the inning with a home run, and Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena each recorded singles before Davidson hit Yordan Alvarez to load the bases. Interim manager Phil Nevin then pulled Davidson for Mike Mayers, who surrendered a grand slam to Alex Bregman. Davidson has failed to reach five innings in five of his 10 starts this season and has allowed 22 runs in 27.1 innings since being traded to the Angels. He will carry a 6.96 ERA and 1.78 WHIP into his next start.

Karinchak picked up the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Twins. He struck out three in one scoreless inning with two walks and no hits allowed.

With Emmanuel Clase unavailable after recording the save in each of the previous two games, Karinchak stepped in and shut the door for his second save. The 26-year-old allowed two runners to reach base via the walk, but he struck out the other three batters he faced, giving him 47 punchouts in just 28.2 innings. Karinchak owns a strong 1.57 ERA to go along with a 1.15 WHIP on the season.
