Ridings (shoulder) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Ridings made a rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset on Saturday and struck out two in a scoreless innings. It's possible that he'll require several Triple-A appearances since he hasn't pitched in a major-league game in over a year.

Abreu (elbow) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Abreu began a rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset on Sunday and struck out two in a scoreless inning. It's possible that he rejoins the major-league club sometime this weekend or early next week.

The Rays recalled Anderson (foot) from Triple-A Durham and placed him on the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Anderson was sent down to Durham in late August but was recently shut down for the remainder of the season due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. His placement on the injured list will help to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Dusten Knight, whose contract was selected Wednesday. Anderson's foot issue isn't considered significant, so it seems likely that he'll have a relatively normal offseason program.

Beeks was placed on the 15-day injured list with right lower leg tightness Wednesday, retroactive to Sept. 18, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Beeks has performed well recently, striking out four in 3.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. However, he's dealing with a lower leg issue that will keep him sidelined until at least the Rays' final series of the regular season. It's not yet clear whether the southpaw will be able to return prior to the end of the regular season, but Dusten Knight was called up to take his place in the bullpen.

The Blue Jays optioned Merryweather to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

Since returning to the active roster Sept. 5 after a stint on the 60-day injured list due to an oblique strain, Merryweather turned in a 7.56 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 8.1 innings across his six appearances. The brunt of the damage came in Tuesday's 18-11 win in Philadelphia, where he recorded just two outs while surrendering five earned runs. The Blue Jays called up Foster Griffin from Triple-A to replace Merryweather in the bullpen.

Clase (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one in one inning, earning the win after blowing a save chance in Tuesday's extra-innings win over the White Sox.

Clase has proven mortal in September, allowing five runs (three earned) across 10 innings, taking two blown saves in eight chances. While he stumbled in the 10th inning Tuesday, the Guardians exploded for five runs in the 11th to put him in position for the win. The 24-year-old still has a sparkling 1.39 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 66:10 K:BB through 64.2 innings. He's 36-for-40 in save chances.

Chapman (3-3) earned the win with a scoreless inning Tuesday against the Pirates. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.

In his second appearance since being reinstated from the injured list, Chapman pitched a scoreless eighth inning to earn his third win of the season. The outing likely was intended to just get the veteran some work, but the Yankees pulled off a remarkable comeback capped off by a walkoff grand slam by Giancarlo Stanton to secure Chapman's win. With Clay Holmes looking shakier of late, Chapman may well find himself back in the closer role if he strings together a couple more scoreless outings.

Coleman (5-2) gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win Tuesday over the Twins.

This was Coleman's first appearance since he took a loss Friday versus the Red Sox, and he bounced back well. He worked the seventh inning and ended up in line for the win when Salvador Perez put the Royals ahead with an RBI double. Coleman has been scored upon in only five of his 24 appearances since the All-Star break. He owns a 2.61 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 64:36 K:BB with 14 holds through 62 innings this season.

Barlow struck out three without allowing a baserunner over 1.2 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Twins.

Jose Cuas began the eighth inning but plunked two of the three batters he faced. Barlow was able to escape the two-on, one-out situation unscathed and then added a perfect ninth inning for the save, his 22nd of the year. He's given up two hits and three walks while striking out eight over 6.1 scoreless innings in September, though he took one blown save for allowing an inherited runner to score. Barlow now has a 2.37 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB through 68.1 innings this year.

Herget allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Herget took two blown saves and added three holds over his previous six outings. Interim manager Phil Nevin opted to give Herget another closing opportunity in a fairly safe spot with a three-run lead, and the 29-year-old right-hander got the job done. One of his blown saves in the aforementioned six-appearance span occurred when he allowed an inherited runner to score -- he's given up only one run in his last 8.2 innings. For the season, Herget owns a 2.42 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 59:15 K:BB while adding six saves, six holds and three blown saves in 63.1 innings.
