Romano picked up the save Saturday against the Rays. He did not allow a run on one hit while striking out three over 1.1 innings.

Romano had recorded a blown save in back-to-back outings entering this contest; however, he has not allowed a run in 16 of his last 17 appearances. The righty had struggled to generate swings and misses prior to this game as he had not recorded a strikeout over 3.2 innings during his previous four outings.

Effross gave up one hit and one walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning of work to earn the save in a 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.

Effross is in the mix for saves now that he is healthy and back from a shoulder strain that had him placed on the 15-day injured list. Clay Holmes still appears to be the main man in the Yankees bullpen, but Lou Trivino and Jonathan Loaisiga have also been used in high-leverage situations within the past week. Effross has been solid this season and has a 2.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 56 appearances.

Pivetta gave up five earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a 7-5 loss to the Yankees on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision.

Pivetta was knocked around by the Yankees, with the bulk of the damage coming on home runs off the bats of Gleyber Torres and Oswaldo Cabrera. Pivetta has now given up 11 earned runs over his past three appearances, two of which came against New York. The 29-year-old right-hander has a K:BB of 168:67 in 170.2 innings this season. He is tentatively expected to make his next start against the Blue Jays.

Munoz earned a save against the Royals on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Top closer Paul Sewald was deployed in the seventh and eighth innings, giving Munoz the opportunity to handle the ninth. He allowed a one-out single but retired the final two batters to secure his fourth save. Sewald leads Seattle with 19 saves on the campaign, but Saturday was a reminder that Munoz remains a candidate for an occasional closing opportunity. This was his first save since Aug. 25, however.

Clase picked up the save in Saturday's 4-2 win over Texas. He allowed one run on one hit over one inning.

After getting Leody Taveras to ground out to start the inning, Clase served up a solo home run to Sam Huff in the next at-bat. However, the right-hander was able to get the final two batters to ground out to close the game and earn his league-leading 39th save. Clase has recorded nine saves so far this month.

Otto did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on three hits with one walk over 5.2 innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.

After walking Steven Kwan on four straight pitches to start the game, Otto went on to retire the next 12 batters he faced. His only major mistake on the night came in the fifth when he left a slider over the plate and served up a solo homer to Oscar Gonzalez to lead off the inning. The right-hander has earned a win in just two of his 12 starts since the All-Star break. He's projected to take the mound again next week against the Angels.

Jimenez's back injury won't require surgery, so the righty expects to be ready for the start of spring training, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Jimenez had the best season of his career this year, with his 3.49 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 5.6 percent walk rate representing career lows while his 33.3 percent strikeout rate stands as a career high. His year ended slightly prematurely due to a lumbar spine strain, but the issue isn't expected to carry over into next season.

Kelly was reinstated from the family medical leave list Saturday.

Kelly had been away from the team since Sunday. His return will push Tanner Banks back to the minors. Kelly hasn't given up a run in any of his last five appearances, but that's only served to bring his ERA down to 6.42.

Jimenez was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right lumbar spine strain Saturday.

Jimenez had a career-best season in 2022 but allowed four runs in 1.2 innings over his last two appearances. It's possible that he was bothered by his back injury during those outings, and he'll be unavailable for the remainder of the season after landing on the injured list. The 27-year-old converted two of four save chances and picked up 11 holds while posting a 3.49 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 56.2 innings over 62 appearances this year.

Banks was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Banks spent just under a week in the major-league bullpen, and he allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out nine in six innings over three appearances. However, he'll head back to the minors after Joe Kelly was reinstated from the family medical leave list Saturday.
