Penn Murfee RP | CHW
Mariners' Penn Murfee: Records win Friday
Murfee (1-1) recorded the win Friday against the Guardians, firing a scoreless fifth inning during which he issued a walk.
Murfee needed just 11 pitches, seven of which found the strike zone, to get through his one frame following a four-inning start from Logan Gilbert. Murfee has been busy early in the new season, with Friday's outing already marking his fifth appearance of the campaign. Murfee's ERA remains unblemished, and the one hit he allowed to the Guardians in his first outing of the season March 31 is the only one he's conceded through 4.1 frames.

Cionel Perez RP | NYM
Orioles' Cionel Perez: Nabs win Friday
Perez (1-0) allowed a run on three hits and struck out one over one inning to earn the win Friday over the Yankees.
Perez has had some mixed results through 4.1 innings across four appearances this season. He's struck out five without walking a batter, but he's been tagged for two runs and seven hits. Perez has worked in a high-leverage role as expected, though he's unlikely to challenge Felix Bautista for ninth-inning work.

Jordan Romano RP | COL
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Picks up fourth save
Romano picked up the save Friday against the Angels without allowing a run or a hit.
While Romano didn't issue a strikeout, that's mostly because the Angels were aggressive and forced the right-hander to throw just six pitches -- five of those for strikes. He is now up to four saves on the young year, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his appearances.

Paul Sewald RP | TOR
Mariners' Paul Sewald: Bounces back with first save
Sewald picked up the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Guardians, striking out one over a perfect ninth inning.
After giving up two runs to the Angels in his last outing, Sewald bounced back with his second perfect inning of the campaign and notched his first save of the season. Through four innings, the right-hander has struck out three and walked two, but he figures to continue sharing closing duties with Andres Munoz, who pitched the eighth inning Friday.

Felix Bautista RP | BAL
Orioles' Felix Bautista: Nails down third save
Bautista walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his third save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Yankees.
The big right-hander made things interesting, as Aaron Judge stole second and went to third on a wild pitch after his two-out walk, but Bautista got Anthony Rizzo to fly out to end the game. The O's closer got a late start to his spring to make sure his shoulder and knee were healthy, but it seems the plan worked as Bautista has a 7:2 K:BB through his first 3.2 innings in 2023.

Scott Barlow RP | ATH
Royals' Scott Barlow: Notches first save
Barlow earned a save over the Giants on Friday. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two batters over a scoreless inning.
In this third appearance of the season, Barlow finally got a save opportunity. He gave up a leadoff triple to Joc Pederson and issued a two-out walk but slammed the door by striking out Blake Sabol. Barlow has tossed three shutout frames to begin the year.

Zach Neal RP | ATH
Athletics' Zach Neal: Inks minors deal with OAK
Neal signed a minor-league contract Friday with the Athletics, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
This will be a homecoming of sorts for the 34-year-old right-hander, who made his MLB debut with the A's back in 2016. Neal struggled to a 6.87 ERA over 116.2 innings last season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Rockies following a three-year stay in Japan. He'll provide minor-league depth for Oakland.

Josh Winder RP | ARI
Twins' Josh Winder: Beginning rehab assignment
Winder (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers on Friday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Winder began spring training with soreness in his right shoulder, but was able to throw 2.2 innings toward the end of camp. It's unclear how many rehab outings the 26-year-old righty will play in the minors before rejoining the Twins, but his time on the 15-day IL seems to be nearing an end.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
White Sox's Alex Colome: Receives minor-league deal
Colome signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Friday.
It's a return to where he had some of his best seasons, as Colome was the White Sox' primary closer from 2019-20. He's fallen on hard times since then and will need to show something in the minors first, but the hope is Colome will supplement the team's relief depth while Liam Hendriks (illness) is unavailable.

Chris Martin RP | TEX
Red Sox's Chris Martin: Logs second hold
Martin allowed one hit over a scoreless seventh inning and recorded a hold in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Tigers.
Boston's bullpen leads the majors with 32.2 innings thrown and has held up well. Martin's logged four straight scoreless appearances out of the gate and has two holds. The 36-year-old is part of the setup crew along with Ryan Brasier and John Schreiber.
