Sewald struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the White Sox.

Sewald's now on an 8.2-inning scoreless streak with a 15:4 K:BB over that span. The right-hander continues to hold the edge for saves over Andres Munoz, who also struck out two in a perfect inning for a hold Friday. Sewald owns a 2.54 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 40:9 K:BB through 28.1 innings, and he's converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.

Fairbanks recorded two outs to earn a save over the Padres on Friday.

Fairbanks entered the game with one out and the bases jammed. He forced Fernando Tatis to ground into a double play just two pitches after replacing Shaun Armstrong on the mound. Fairbanks has snagged two saves in as many days since returning from the injured list. He's converted seven of his eight save chances while registering a 1.35 ERA across 13.2 innings this season.

The Twins are expected to call up Headrick from Triple-A St. Paul before Saturday's game against Detroit, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Headrick will likely be used as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen Saturday while Jose De Leon opens the game. Though he's logged a 4.23 ERA at Triple-A this season, Headrick boasts a strong 21.9 K-BB%. He could stick around in the bullpen beyond Saturday's game since he had success in his first trip to the majors in May, when he logged a 3.24 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 8.1 innings over three relief appearances.

De Leon will serve as the Twins' opening pitcher in a bullpen game Saturday versus the Tigers, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

De Leon will likely pitch an inning or two before turning the game over to the rest of the Twins' relief corps. The right-hander has been a productive member of the bullpen since coming up from Triple-A St. Paul in mid-May, logging a 3.86 ERA and 15:4 K:BB in 14 innings.

Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters before Friday's game versus San Diego that Fleming will not need to undergo surgery on his left elbow, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

"We'll be able to get a ball in [Fleming's] hands," Cash said. The southpaw is currently on the 60-day injured list after an MRI revealed a cartilage buildup, and he could return to the back of the Rays rotation by the end of July.

The Guardians optioned Morris to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Morris has been solid during his brief time in the majors, throwing two scoreless innings while striking out three batters. However, the Guardians will choose to send him back to the minors in favor of Touki Toussaint, who was promoted from Triple-A on Friday.

Loaisiga (elbow) started a throwing program earlier this week, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Loaisiga is just doing light games of catch for now, but it's an encouraging step forward following several weeks of rest and rehab. He has been out since early April due to an elbow injury that eventually required arthroscopic surgery in early May. The 28-year-old right-hander could be an option for the Yankees again in the second half.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Hamilton (groin) will throw at Double-A Somerset on Tuesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Hamilton tossed a live bullpen session at Somerset on Thursday and his next outing there might come in an actual game -- the start of a minor-league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old reliever has been on the shelf since mid-May due to a right groin strain.

Oakland placed Lovelady on the 15-day injured list Friday with a left elbow strain.

Lovelady suffered the injury while making a relief appearance Thursday against the Rays, and the Athletics have yet to project a recovery timeline. Chad Smith will join the A's bullpen in a corresponding move.

Smith was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Smith will return to the big leagues after being sent down in late April, as Richard Lovelady (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday in a corresponding move. Smith has produced a 6.30 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with six strikeouts over 10 innings in eight appearances for Oakland this season.
