Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Bangs out four hits

Choi went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in a win over the Angels on Saturday.

The first baseman drove in Randy Arozarena with a fifth-inning single and added another RBI in the seventh with a double that once again plated Arozarena. It was the first four-hit effort of the season for Choi, who is slashing .272/.392/.407 with two home runs and 13 RBI across 97 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Seeking second opinion

Belt will travel to Los Angeles and Stanford in search of a second opinion on his knee injury, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Belt has been banged up by minor issues throughout the season and hit the injured list for the second time this year Friday with what's being called right knee inflammation for now. A clearer picture of the severity of the issue and his expected return date should emerge after he gets the additional opinion.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Unconcerned with hip issue

Winker isn't concerned about the bruised right hip that forced him to exit Saturday's game against Atlanta, saying, "I am fine. Just banged out my hip a little bit," Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Winker will test out his hip prior to Sunday's contest and could end up sitting for at least one game, but there doesn't appear to be any reason to fear for a long absence at this point. That's great news for the Reds, as Winker is hitting an excellent .325/.399/.590 on the year.

Reds' Jesse Winker: Exits with hip contusion

Winker exited Saturday's game against Atlanta with a right hip contusion, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

It's not entirely clear how the injury occurred at this point. The Reds will likely provide an update on the outfielder following the contest, but Winkler can be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Exits after HBP

Harper left Saturday's game against the Mets in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent left leg injury, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper was hit by a pitch in the top of the sixth inning, and he initially remained in the game to run the bases. However, Travis Jankowski took his place in right field in the bottom of the frame. The exact nature and severity of Harper's injury aren't yet clear.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Cubs' Joc Pederson: Sits against southpaw

Pederson will sit against lefty Julio Urias and the Dodgers on Saturday.

Pederson has made seven starts against southpaws this season, but he's now sat against each of the last three the team has faced. He hasn't done much to suggest he deserves to start against same-sided pitching, as he's hitting .237/.292/.250 against lefties in 48 plate appearances. Kris Bryant will start in left field Saturday, with Patrick Wisdom starting at third.

  • Kyle Lewis DH | ARI

Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Gets stitches removed

Lewis (knee) had the stitches from the minor surgery he recently underwent removed Friday, but he still has some time to go before resuming baseball activity, the team's official site reports.

Manager Scott Servais continued to express optimism that Lewis will be able to make a return at some point in 2021, with Friday's news another small step toward that possibility. Lewis has slowly begun some rehab activities, but it appears he won't have a chance to get into any type of live hitting situation until mid-to-late July at the earliest.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Indians' Harold Ramirez: Takes seat Saturday

Ramirez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins.

Ramirez will get a breather despite going 3-for-8 with a run over the last two games. Josh Naylor will start in right field while Ernie Clement enters the lineup at second base.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Cubs' Joc Pederson: Steals base in loss

Pederson went 0-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Pederson was hitless on the day, but he reached in the fifth inning on a fielder's choice and ended up taking second for his first stolen base of the year. The 29-year-old did also drive in the Cubs' second run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Pederson had a hot month of May but has cooled off some in June, slashing .211/.237/.539 while posting just a 2:23 BB:K over 21 games. He hasn't drawn a walk since June 2 and currently owns a 6.6 percent walk rate, which is on pace to be the lowest of his career.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

Rangers' Nick Solak: Two hits, RBI in win

Solak went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-4 win over Kansas City.

Alarm bells went off earlier this week when the Rangers called up Andy Ibanez and started him at second base in place of a slumping Solak. That was Monday, and Ibanez knocked a three-run home run, but Solak has started all four games since. His .180 batting average and .518 OPS over 41 games dating back to May 8 puts his hold on an everyday job in jeopardy, but for now, he appears to have held onto the starting spot at second base.
