Belt was placed on the bereavement list Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Giants' Brandon Belt: Not in Thursday's lineup

Belt (personal) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Belt is expected to be placed on the bereavement list Friday, and he'll be out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale in New York. It's not yet clear whether the 33-year-old will be available in a depth capacity, but Wilmer Flores will start at first base and bat fifth.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Phillies' Brad Miller: Starting at first base

Miller is starting Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The 31-year-old took on a bench role across the last few games with Rhys Hoskins (groin) back in action, but Miller is in line to serve as the primary first baseman once again with Hoskins poised to miss the rest of the season due to abdominal surgery. Miller has gone 3-for-9 with two doubles, two RBI and a run across his last five appearances.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Resting Thursday

McCutchen isn't starting Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a run scored Wednesday, but he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Odubel Herrera will start in left field while Travis Jankowski takes over in center.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Reaches base three times Wednesday

Turner went 2-for-6 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Padres.

Turner notched a couple of base hits during Wednesday's wild game and ended up scoring on AJ Pollock's two-run blast in the 16th inning after starting out the frame as the designated runner on second. The 36-year-old has had a below-average month so far, hitting just .226/.333/.377 over 17 games but is still putting together a solid campaign this season, as he's slashing .286/.378/.483 with 21 homers, 70 RBI, 66 runs scored, a steal and 51:80 BB:K over 479 plate appearances.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Slugs 23rd homer

Reyes went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Rangers.

His seventh-inning blast off Wes Benjamin was Cleveland's fourth and final solo shot of the night. The streaky Reyes may be heating up again after batting only .148 (8-for-54) through his first 15 games in August, as the 26-year-old has slugged three of his 23 homers on the year in his last six games.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Slams 26th homer

Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a 10-inning victory over the Royals on Wednesday.

Alvarez's fourth-inning homer gave Houston a one-run lead. It was the slugger's fourth long ball in his past six games, and Alvarez also has nine RBI over that span. His 26 home runs this season are tops on the Astros.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Goes yard for 24th time

Harper went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Wednesday against the Rays.

Harper took Shawn Armstrong yard in the fifth inning to record his 24th homer of the season. He now has three home runs in his last 10 games to go along with eight RBI and five runs scored. For the season, Harper has delivered an excellent .293/.412/.567 line with 72 runs scored and 54 RBI across 442 plate appearances.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Tough night in Baltimore

Ohtani allowed four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in five innings of a no-decision Wednesday against Baltimore. He also went 0-for-4 at the plate with three strikeouts.

Ohtani had won each of his previous four starts on the mound, but he allowed a season-high three home runs in this one, with two of them coming in the first frame. He did leave with a 6-4 lead despite his issues with the long ball, but the Angels' bullpen imploded during a five-run eighth inning. Ohtani didn't fare any better at the dish, where he's now 3-for-18 (.167) with 10 strikeouts over his last five games.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: No baseball activities

Manager David Bell said Wednesday that Winker (ribs) has yet to resume baseball activities and remains "a couple weeks away" from returning from the injured list, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Winker is rehabbing in Cincinnati while the team is on a road trip, and it's unclear when he may be able to resume baseball activities. The 28-year-old landed on the shelf Aug. 16 with an intercostal strain, and given his current progression he may not rejoin the big-league roster before mid-September.
