Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Astros' Michael Brantley: Progressing to cage work
Brantley (knee) will hit in the batting cage Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Brantley resumed baseball activities over the weekend after landing on the shelf with knee soreness last week, and his quick return to cage work is a good sign for his recovery. The 34-year-old should be eligible to be activated from the injured list Wednesday, though he's not guaranteed to be ready to be reinstated at that point.

Joey Meneses DH | NYM
Red Sox's Joey Meneses: Moved to Double-A
Meneses was transferred to Double-A Portland on Monday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Meneses tried his luck overseas after being released by the Phillies in 2018, but he's back playing for the Red Sox in the minors in 2021. He's spent the majority of the season at Double-A, batting .303 with 10 homers, 43 RBI and 31 runs scored over 50 contests. Meneses has also appeared in 38 games at Triple-A Worcester, hitting .260 with five homers, 27 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Harold Ramirez DH | WAS
Indians' Harold Ramirez: Remains on bench
Ramirez (shoulder) won't start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Kansas City.
Ramirez left Sunday's game against the Yankees with a shoulder injury. He didn't play a role in Monday's afternoon contest and may not appear in the nightcap, either. Bradley Zimmer gets the start in left field.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: On bench against lefty
Vogelbach isn't starting Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Vogelbach will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games with left-hander Jon Lester starting for St. Louis. Eduardo Escobar will shift to first base while Luis Urias starts at the hot corner.

Luken Baker DH | ARI
Cardinals' Luken Baker: Transferred to Triple-A
Baker was promoted to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
Baker returned from the injured list in early September and slashed .286/.333/.518 with three homers, eight runs and seven RBI across 13 games since then. Double-A Springfield has wrapped up its season, so the 24-year-old's promotion will allow him to get a few extra weeks of game action in Memphis prior to the end of the regular season.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Phillies' Brad Miller: Sits against southpaw
Miller isn't starting Monday's game against the Orioles.
Miller will be out of the lineup for a second straight game with left-hander John Means on the mound for Baltimore. Matt Vierling will start at first base and bat sixth.

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Resting versus lefty
Choi is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
After going 2-for-9 with three walks and a run while starting in each of the Rays' final three games of their weekend series with the Tigers, the lefty-hitting Choi will head to the bench Monday with southpaw Robbie Ray on the mound for Toronto. Jordan Luplow replaces Choi at first base.

Harold Ramirez DH | WAS
Indians' Harold Ramirez: Out for Game 1 of twin bill
Ramirez (shoulder) is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with Kansas City.
Ramirez could rejoin the starting nine for the nightcap, but Cleveland may prefer to stay away from the 27-year-old for the day after he injured his right shoulder in Sunday's blowout win over the Yankees. Before departing, Ramirez enjoyed a nice day at the dish, going 2-for-2 with four RBI and a run. Oscar Mercado will spell Ramirez in left field as Cleveland kicks off a nine-game week that includes a pair of doubleheaders.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Fans 10 across eight frames
Ohtani got a no-decision in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Oakland, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts in eight innings.
Ohtani was in his customary dominant form on the mound Sunday and shut Oakland down aside from two solo home runs surrendered. The 10 strikeouts ties Ohtani's season high, while his 108 pitches thrown are his second most in any start this season. The outing was a nice rebound from his last start, when he permitted six runs against the Astros on Sep. 10. There's been no word yet on when Ohtani might take the mound next.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Phillies' Brad Miller: Idle versus lefty
Miller is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Along with Miller, fellow left-handed hitters Didi Gregorius and Odubel Herrera will bow out of the starting nine with the Mets bringing southpaw Rich Hill to the mound. J.T. Realmuto will replace Miller at first base, while Andrew Knapp picks up a start behind the plate. Miller was in the lineup for each of the past three contests, going 4-for-11 with a solo home run, a double and two additional runs.
