  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Injury halting work at first base

Devers is dealing with some back tightness and the earliest he'll play at first base is after the All-Star break, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

There has been no public discussion about Devers being placed on the injured list, but he is limited in both his running and fielding at the moment. The 28-year-old also has a groin issue, but the back injury has been causing Devers the most trouble, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Despite the ailment, Devers has gone 8-for-25 with a .859 OPS to begin July.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Rehab games coming this week

Herrera (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday or Friday and expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list upon resumption of play after the All-Star break, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Coming back from a strained left hamstring, Herrera ran the bases at full speed over the weekend and is able to do all other baseball activities. He will presumably remain on his rehab assignment with Memphis through early next week before returning to the Cardinals' active roster coming out of the All-Star break. Herrera was operating as the team's primary designated hitter before getting hurt, and he will be an everyday player between DH and catcher, once activated.

  • Starling Marte DH | NYM

Mets' Starling Marte: Lands on injured list

The Mets placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 7, due to a right knee bruise.

The veteran outfielder has been playing through the injury for a while, but the issue flared up after he started in the outfield Sunday for the fifth time all season. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte is expected to be back shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mets' Jesse Winker: Returns from injured list

The Mets activated Winker (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Winker was shelved for more than two months with a right oblique strain but is ready to roll after going 4-for-14 with a couple homers during a brief rehab assignment. The 31-year-old should be the Mets' primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching, especially with Starling Marte (knee) landing on the 10-day injured list.

  • David Fry DH | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Provides cushion in win

Fry went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-5 win over the Astros.

Fry provided insurance with a solo blast in the ninth inning, paving the way for Cleveland to snap a 10-game losing streak. He continues to be the designated hitter against left-handers, but Fry doesn't have a lock on that role. Since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, he's batting .153 (9-for-59) with three home runs and five RBI over 26 games.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Salvages day with late homer

Yelich went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-1 win over the Dodgers.

Yelich went hitless with two strikeouts in his first three at-bats before delivering a two-run shot off Julian Fernandez in the seventh inning. The round tripper extended Yelich's on-base streak to 19 games. During that stretch, he's 27-for-76 (.355) with five homers and three stolen bases.
