Kyle Lewis DH | ARI
Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Losing playing time
Lewis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Lewis is on the bench for the third time in four games, with his downturn in opportunities coinciding with Mitch Haniger's return from the 60-day injured list Saturday. With Haniger expected to settle into a regular role in either right field or at designated hitter, Lewis and Carlos Santana could have to vie for one spot in Seattle's everyday lineup moving forward. Santana would seem to have the upper hand on playing time over Lewis, who is 4-for-40 with 17 strikeouts in 13 games since returning following the All-Star break from his own extended stay on the IL.

Charlie Blackmon RF | COL
Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Out of Sunday's lineup
Blackmon is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Blackmon will exit the lineup Sunday after starting the past four games and going 3-for-16 with an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. C.J. Cron will serve as the designated hitter while Sam Hilliard, Yonathan Daza and Randal Grichuk man the outfield.

Seth Beer DH | PIT
Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Out of Sunday's lineup
Beer is not in the lineup Sunday against Colorado.
Beer started the last two games and will exit the lineup after going 2-for-6 with two strikeouts. Ketel Marte will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Emmanuel Rivera receives a start in the infield.

Yermin Mercedes DH | SF
Giants' Yermin Mercedes: Optioned to minors
Mercedes was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Mercedes recently made four straight starts for the Giants, but he'll head to the minors with multiple position players coming off the injured list over the past couple days. The 29-year-old has a .243/.338/.357 slash line with one home run and eight RBI over 80 plate appearances this year.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Rangers' Brad Miller: Settles into reserve role
Miller is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
After returning from the injured list in Friday's 2-1 loss while going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, Miller looks like he'll serve as a bench bat for the Rangers moving forward. The lefty-hitting veteran will take a seat for the second straight game in the series with the White Sox, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers (Michael Kopech and Lucas Giolito).

Luis Torrens DH | NYM
Mariners' Luis Torrens: Slugs first homer
Torrens went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during a loss to the Angels in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The veteran squared up for a 405-foot shot to right field off Reid Detmers in the fifth inning, his first home run since Sept. 23 of last season. Torrens' multi-hit effort was also his first since June 10, as he's spent time on the injured list with a shoulder issue and also lost out on plenty of playing time to Cal Raleigh behind the dish since then.

Byron Buxton DH | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Takes seat Sunday
Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Even though he received the day off in Friday's 6-5 win and served as a designated hitter in Saturday's 7-3 victory, Buxton will get another breather for the series finale. The Twins haven't indicated Buxton is still experiencing any lingering body soreness after he missed two straight games earlier in the week, so his absence from the lineup Sunday could simply be a precaution. Luis Arraez will serve as the Twins' DH on Sunday, while Gilberto Celestino gets a start in center field.
-
Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Brewers' Andrew McCutchen: Day off Sunday
McCutchen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
McCutchen started the past 23 games and will receive Sunday off after posting an .822 OPS with four home runs, 16 RBI, 14 runs and three stolen bases during that stretch. Keston Hiura will bat sixth as the designated hitter Sunday for Milwaukee.
-
Christopher Morel 1B | MIA
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Held out of Sunday's lineup
Morel (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
The 23-year-old exited Saturday's contest with right hamstring tightness and will be out of the starting nine for at least one game. Nelson Velazquez will start in center field while Nick Madrigal is at the keystone for Chicago, and it's unclear if Morel will be available off the bench Sunday.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Resting Sunday, as expected
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Just as manager A.J. Hinch suggested would be the case when the Tigers began their homestand Thursday, Cabrera will be alternating starts with days off for the next week while he continues to manage a right knee issue. After going 1-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's 9-1 win, Cabrera will give way at designated hitter to Harold Castro in the series finale.
