Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Back in lineup Thursday
Soler (hip) is back in the lineup Thursday against the Nationals.
Soler will serve as the Marlins' designated hitter and bat second versus the Nats and right-hander Joan Adon after missing two games due to hip tightness. The 31-year-old slugger boasts an .843 OPS with 35 homers and 71 RBI in 125 games this season for Miami.

Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT
Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Blasts 31st homer
Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Rockies.
Ozuna's two-out sixth-inning blast off Kyle Freeland was his 31st home run of the season and his seventh in the past nine games. Though he's part of a star-studded Atlanta lineup, Ozuna's contributions shouldn't be overlooked. He's produced a .301/.371/.641 slash line with 14 home runs, 35 RBI and 32 runs since the All-Star break, paying handsome dividends for those who invested a late-round pick into him on draft day.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Astros' Michael Brantley: First hit of season
Brantley went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Brantley made his season debut Tuesday and proceeded to tally his first hit one game later. Sidelined for the entire season while recovering from shoulder surgery, it's unclear how much Brantley will be able to contribute for the rest of the regular season. Even so, the Astros appear to be willing to give him regular playing time, as he's started both games since being activated while hitting sixth.

Byron Buxton DH | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Plays center field at Triple-A
Buxton (hamstring) started in center field Wednesday and went 1-for-2 with two walks at Triple-A St. Paul. He played seven innings. It was the first time Buxton has played in the field in 2023.
Buxton has been on the injured list since Aug. 4 with a strained right hamstring. It's not clear how long his rehab assignment will last, but he could be activated in early September. Once activated, the 29-year-old looks like he'll get the chance to play his first innings in the field with the big club in 2023 after serving exclusively as a designated hitter prior to landing on the IL on Aug. 4.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Padres' Ji-Man Choi: Begins swinging bat
Choi (ribs) has begun a swinging progression, MLB.com reports.
Choi landed on the injured list two weeks ago with a left rib strain but is starting to ramp things back up. He could be back by mid-September if all goes well and would figure to share first base and designated hitter duties with Garrett Cooper once ready.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Hits 13th homer
Vogelbach went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers.
Vogelbach put the Mets on the board in the second inning with a 386-foot solo shot and added a walk in the third. However, with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth, manager Buck Showalter pulled Vogelbach in favor of Francisco Alvarez, who grounded into a double play. That move was against a southpaw, so it came as little surprise, as Vogelbach has gone 0-for-15 with eight strikeouts against lefties this year. The slugger has gone deep six times and driven in 13 runs over his past 16 games, so he's not the worst option for fantasy managers looking for power on the waiver wire, though it's a foregone conclusion that he'll rarely play against left-handed hurlers.
-
Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Goes deep in victory
Stanton went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and an additional RBI against the Tigers in Wednesday's 6-2 win.
Stanton kicked off the scoring in the contest with a first-inning RBI single and added a 425-foot solo blast in the fourth. The long ball was his sixth in August, though three of them came in a three-game stretch near the start of the month. Overall, Stanton has swatted 20 home runs on the campaign, the 12th time in 14 career seasons he has reached that mark.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Dodgers' J.D. Martinez: Rehab assignment coming
Martinez (groin) will embark on a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City before likely returning for the Dodgers' upcoming series against Washington, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The Dodgers' series with the Nationals will run from Sept. 8-10, though it is unclear exactly which game Martinez will be activated for. The veteran slugger landed on the 10-day IL with left groin tightness on Aug. 22 and was slashing .200/.304/.300 across 23 plate appearances in August prior to getting injured.
-
Luis Torrens DH | NYM
Mariners' Luis Torrens: Inks minors deal with Seattle
Torrens signed a minor-league contract Wednesday with the Mariners.
Torrens has reported to Triple-A Tacoma and will serve as organizational depth at catcher down the stretch. The 27-year-old slashed .239/.297/.388 in 181 major-league games for Seattle between 2020-2022. He had brief stints earlier this summer with the Cubs and the Triple-A affiliate of the Nationals.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Sitting out with hip injury
Soler (hip) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Soler departed Tuesday's loss to Tampa Bay when his hip tightened up on him after a swing. He dealt with a hip issue at times last season as well, though it's not clear whether the injury he picked up Tuesday is related. For now, the slugger is considered day-to-day. Josh Bell is in the designated hitter spot Wednesday with Yuli Gurriel at first base.
