  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Checks in behind plate Monday

Sanchez (hamstring) will start at catcher and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Royals.

Sanchez will make a start for the first time since exiting last Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Rays with right hamstring tightness, but he had been available off the bench for the last few days and served as a late-inning defensive replacement at first base in Friday's 3-1 win over the Cubs. He'll be back behind the dish Monday while No. 1 catcher William Contreras gets a day off from catching and serves as the Brewers' designated hitter.

  • Royals' Nelson Velazquez: Absent from lineup again

Velazquez is out of the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Brewers.

It's the second straight day on the bench for Velazquez, who is in a 2-for-32 tailspin at the plate. He served as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers and will be available off the bench Monday. Adam Frazier will serve as the Royals' designated hitter, and Kansas City could continue to rotate a number of players at that spot in the lineup while Velazquez has seemingly lost hold of an everyday role.

  • Wyatt Langford OF | TEX

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Officially lands on IL

The Rangers placed Langford (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Just as manager Bruce Bochy said would be the case following Sunday's 3-2 win over the Royals, Langford was deactivated due to a right hamstring strain that's expected to sideline the rookie for around 3-to-4 weeks. Texas called up infielder Jonathan Ornelas from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

  • Guardians' Estevan Florial: Leading off in second straight game

Florial will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Tigers.

After going 1-for-4 with a stolen base while serving as the Guardians' leadoff man and designated hitter in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Angels, Florial will get another turn atop the order Monday. He'll also be drawing the start in left field in place of Steven Kwan, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a hamstring strain that will likely keep him sidelined for four weeks. Even before Kwan's injury, the lefty-hitting Florial had already been moving into a regular spot in the lineup against right-handed pitching, but Kwan's absence should give Florial a clearer path to occupying a prominent spot in the lineup.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Giants' Jorge Soler: Remains on bench Monday

Soler (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Philadelphia, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Soler will be on the bench for a second straight game while he tends to a shoulder injury. With Soler out of the lineup, LaMonte Wade will get a day off at first base and will serve as the Giants' designated hitter.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Provides lone run in loss

Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Ozuna was the only Atlanta player with multiple hits as well as the only one with an extra-base hit in Sunday's loss. He took James Paxton deep to right center in the seventh for his first long ball since April 21. He's now back tied atop the leaderboard with 10 home runs on the year and leads all of baseball with 33 RBI. Ozuna is slashing .306/.382/.603 with 16 extra-base hits, 21 runs and a 15:27 BB:K in 136 plate appearances.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Immaculate day at plate

Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Sunday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

Ohtani moved into a tie for first place in the majors with his ninth and 10th home runs of the season, and his perfect day at the dish also brought his average up to .364, vaulting him past the Phillies' Alec Bohm (.360) for the best mark in baseball. The lefty-hitting Ohtani did all his damage against southpaws, opening the day with a two-run blast in the first inning and base hits in the third and sixth innings off Max Fried before tacking on a 464-foot solo shot off A.J. Minter in the eighth.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Goes yard in big win

Pederson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Padres.

Pederson got going with a two-run shot in the fourth off Jhony Brito to put the Diamondbacks up 10-4. It was his first round-tripper and RBI since April 17. He now has five hits in four games in May and is slashing .297/.419/.514 with three homers, seven RBI, 13 runs and a 13:15 BB:K in 94 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Giants' Jorge Soler: Dealing with shoulder issue

Soler was out of the lineup Sunday versus the Phillies due to a shoulder issue, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Soler is considered day-to-day, which suggests the injury isn't too severe. Wilmer Flores got the start at designated hitter Sunday and could continue to play there if Soler isn't available for Monday's series finale in Philadelphia.

  • Guardians' Estevan Florial: Notches second steal

Florial went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Angels.

Florial had sat out the last two games amid a 1-for-16 slump, during which he had eight strikeouts and two walks. The 26-year-old may have a clearer path to at-bats with Steven Kwan (hamstring) heading to the injured list, though prospect Kyle Manzardo will also command a large role. On the season, Florial is slashing .200/.284/.417 with three home runs, two steals, nine RBI and five runs scored over 68 plate appearances. He'll likely continue to see most of his playing time versus right-handed pitchers with turns as the designated hitter and right fielder.
