Reds' Austin Hays: On bench Saturday

Hays is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

  • Starling Marte DH | NYM

Mets' Starling Marte: Idle for third straight game

Marte is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Marte is on the bench for a third straight game, signaling that the Mets are still viewing him as a part-time player. Though Marte should continue to rank as the Mets' preferred choice at designated hitter against left-handed pitching, manager Carlos Mendoza looks content to rotate a number of players at the DH spot versus righties.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Activation official

The Blue Jays reinstated Springer (concussion) from the injured list Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

As expected, Springer returns to the active roster ahead of Saturday's game against Texas following a two-week absence due to a concussion. Joey Loperfido was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Springer played in two minor-league rehab games, going 2-for-5 with a double and a home run.

  • Miguel Andujar DH | CIN

    Reds' Miguel Andujar: Keeps hitting

Andujar went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 10-8 loss to Milwaukee.

Andujar singled in his first two plate appearance and contributed to an early 8-1 lead that the Reds eventually squandered. A low-key trade deadline acquisition, Andujar has done nothing but hit since joining the club. He's slashing .387/.472/.742 with three home runs, two doubles, nine RBI and eight runs scored over 11 games in a Cincinnati uniform. Andujar's hit safely in seven consecutive starts while serving primarily as the DH and being deployed in the middle of the order.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Powers offense in win

Yelich went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, five RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 10-8 win over the Reds.

Yelich fueled a huge Brewers comeback, driving in runs in four separate plate appearances and hitting what proved to be the game-winning homer in the sixth inning. The 33-year-old has been red hot in August, hitting safely in 10 of 12 contests with seven multi-hit efforts, seven extra-base hits, 17 RBI and 16 runs scored. On the season, he's slashing .272/.349/.476 with 25 home runs, 86 RBI, 71 runs scored and 15 steals across 490 plate appearances.

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Surpasses 100 RBI in win

Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.

Schwarber broke a 2-2 tie with a three-run blast in the seventh inning, reaching 100 RBI for the third straight season. Though he's just 6-for-37 over his past 10 games, five of those knocks have gone for extra bases. The lefty slugger now leads the majors with 101 RBI while slashing .250/.373/.582 with 43 homers, 83 runs scored and 10 steals across 541 plate appearances, keeping him firmly in the National League MVP mix.

  • Ryan O'Hearn DH | SD

Padres' Ryan O'Hearn: Getting break Friday

O'Hearn isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

O'Hearn will get a breather Friday after going 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored during Wednesday's win over San Francisco. Jose Iglesias will enter the lineup as San Diego's designated hitter and bat seventh.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Not in Friday's lineup

Stanton is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Cardinals on Friday.

Stanton will be on the bench to begin Friday's game while Aaron Judge serves as the designated hitter and Jasson Dominguez, Trent Grisham and Jose Caballero start in the outfield from left to right. Stanton has a 1.102 OPS with seven home runs and 17 RBI since July 25 and has recorded a hit in each of the last 15 games he's started.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Swinging from both sides

Santander (shoulder) has progressed to swinging from both sides of the plate and is expected the spend the next couple weeks ramping up his hitting program, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The veteran outfielder has a lot of boxes to check in his hitting progression and can safely be ruled out for the rest of August. Santander, who has been on the shelf with a subluxation of his left shoulder since late May, will also require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Blue Jays.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Taking seat Friday
