Martinez (groin) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Friday was thought to be the earliest Martinez could possibly return from his bout of groin tightness. He will end up sitting for the series opener in Tampa Bay, as the Red Sox go with Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley and Brock Holt in the outfield and Mookie Betts (foot) at DH.

Stanton is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.

Stanton will sit after logging a total of seven plate appearances in his first two games back from the IL, having gone 1-for-6 with a double, a walk and two strikeouts. This is all part of the plan to ease Stanton in after he missed most of the season due to injury. In Stanton's absence, the Yankees will go with an outfield of Tyler Wade, Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier from left to right, with Aaron Judge at DH.

Ramirez is not starting Friday against the Nationals, David Wilson of the Miami Herald reports.

Ramirez owns a modest .244/.320/.378 slash line in the month of September. Austin Dean will start in left field in his absence.

Carpenter came into Thursday's extra-inning win over the Cubs as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the fifth inning and went 1-for-2 with a go-ahead solo home run in the 10th inning.

Carpenter launched a one-out, 431-foot solo shot to center off Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel in the top of the 10th inning, snapping a 6-6 tie with a blast that would end up being the difference in the game. Manager Mike Shildt confirmed earlier in the week that Carpenter was keeping a positive mindset despite riding the pine frequently in recent games, and Thursday's homer, his first since Aug. 25, seems to bear out that the 33-year-old is keeping himself mentally ready.

Reyes went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Thursday's victory over Detroit.

Reyes missed the previous two games to attend to an undisclosed personal matter but returned with a bang against Detroit, launching a 433-foot two-run bomb to left field in the fourth inning. The long ball was his eighth since joining Cleveland at the trade deadline but only his second since Aug. 27. Overall, Reyes is slashing .245/.308/.506 with 35 homers and 76 RBI in 141 games between the Padres and Indians this season.

Reyes (personal) is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth Thursday against the Tigers.

He missed a few days to attend to a personal matter but is back in action against lefty Daniel Norris. Reyes is hitting .200 with one home run, 23 strikeouts and seven walks in 14 games this month.

Dickerson is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

He is 2-for-25 with zero home runs, one walk and nine strikeouts in his last 10 games. Austin Slater will start in right field against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez.

Belt is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Belt has been swinging a hot bat, going 14-for-39 (.359) with one home run, a triple and six doubles over his last 10 games. Aramis Garcia is starting at first base and hitting ninth.

Lewis is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.

He is hitting .294 with five home runs and a 13:1 K:BB in his first eight big-league games. The power is obviously legitimate, but he is probably playing a little over his head in the batting average department. Tim Lopes starts in right field and will hit sixth.

Dickerson (oblique) started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's 11-3 win over the Red Sox.

Dickerson made his first start since Sept. 3 due to an ongoing battle with back issues. The 29-year-old was removed for a pinch runner in the eighth inning, but that appeared to be a strategic maneuver with no reports of any health setbacks. There is a strong chance Dickerson gets rested for Thursday's series finale in Boston with a southpaw scheduled to take the bump. In fact, three of the Giants' next four projected opposing starters are of the left-handed variety, so fantasy owners in need of volume in the closing moments of the season may want to explore other options in the short term.
