Matt Carpenter chips in three RBI during 7-6 win
Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter doubled, homered and drove in three runs during a 7-6 win Sunday against the Padres. He also finished with three hits and two runs.
Carpenter led off the bottom of the second inning with a home run off Odraismer Despaigne to put St. Louis ahead 5-0. He then added a two-RBI double in the sixth inning, which gave St. Louis a 7-4 lead.
He is batting .271 with one triple, one home run, five doubles, 10 RBI, 11 runs, nine walks and one stolen base in 16 August games.

Joc Pederson, Alex Guerrero to be promoted in September
Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti told MLB Network Radio Sunday prospects Joc Pederson and Alex Guerrero are expected to be promoted to the majors when rosters expand Sept. 1.
Pederson is considered the 18th-best prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America.
"You'll probably see them on Sept 1st," Colletti said. "If today was Sept. 1, I'd be inclined to bring them both [up]."

Pirates slugger Andrew McCutchen ran the bases and hit in the cage Saturday as part of his recovery from a rib injury.
McCutchen has not played since Aug. 3, but he was not placed on the disabled list until eight days later.

Brandon Belt to see a concussion specialist
Giants first baseman Brandon Belt will meet with a concussion specialist, according to CSN.
Belt will meet with the specialist in Pittsburgh. He's been out since August 6 after being hit in the face with a ball during warmups. Belt hit .237/.296/.446 in 186 at-bats.

Giancarlo Stanton reaches four times Thursday
Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton reached base four times Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
The single was Stanton's weapon of choice throughout the game. He reached three times via the single, and a fourth time on a walk. Despite being on base four times, Stanton did not score a run. He did post an RBI. Stanton is now hitting .292 following the performance.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run Thursday against the Mets.
Harper struck in the top of the fourth inning. With a man on, Harper belted an 88 mph fastball out to right center. The hit was Harper's third home run in his last seven games. He finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and two RBI.

Cubs considering making Jorge Soler a September call-up
Cubs outfield prospect Jorge Soler is being considered as a potential call-up and/or a participant in the Arizona Fall League, MLB.com reports.
"[Soler] has been playing great, and is locked in now, and great at-bats, great attitude, playing good defense," manager Jed Hoyer said Wednesday. "We have to decide if he's had enough at-bats or not."
Soler has hit .367/.464/.753 with 12 home runs in 150 at-bats across three levels.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper clubbed his fifth home run Tuesday against the Mets.
Harper struck in his first at-bat. With a man on base, Harper belted a 93 mph fastball to left for the two run shot. He also singled later in the game. Harper finished 2 for 4, with one run scored and two RBI.

Giancarlo Stanton blasts two home runs in win Monday
Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton went 2 for 3 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI in his team's 6-5 win over the Cardinals Monday.
Stanton drove a ball into the bullpen in right field for a two-run home run in the first inning before following up in the third with a mammoth to left center field that reached the balcony. He's collected five home runs in the last five games and now owns a share of the major-league lead with White Sox slugger Jose Abreu. Stanton has hit .292/.393/.568 with 31 home runs, 82 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 438 at-bats.

Phillies outfielder Darin Ruf went 1 for 2 with a walk and a two-run home run in his team's 5-3 loss to the Mets Monday.
The Mets took a lead in the top of the fourth inning, but Ruf was able to put his team in front with his shot in the bottom half of the inning, though the Phillies would go on to lose. Ruf has hit ..152/.293/.364 with two home runs and four RBI in 33 at-bats.
