  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Cubs' Jorge Soler: Gets side checked out Monday

Soler will have his right side examined Monday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reports.

Soler reportedly was moving gingerly during his last start Saturday, and given that the Cubs have already clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs, they likely want to be extra cautious with him. The 24-year-old will sit out of Monday's contest, and his status for Chicago's upcoming games should become clearer once the details of his examination are revealed.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Out of lineup Monday

Carpenter is not in the lineup Monday against the Reds.

Carpenter started the past four games, but after he went 2-for-17 with six strikeouts in that span, manager Mike Matheny decided to give the veteran the night off. Matt Adams will take over at first base for the evening.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Nationals' Bryce Harper: Not in Monday's lineup

Harper (thumb) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASN.

Manager Dusty Baker did not have any details to share regarding Harper's health, but he will sit out at least one game due to the thumb injury he suffered Sunday. The Nationals are still jockeying for playoff positioning, but with a postseason berth secured, they figure to take the cautious route with Harper as long as he's less than 100 percent. Brian Goodwin will get the start in right field in his place Monday evening.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Nationals' Bryce Harper: Hurts thumb, X-ray scheduled Monday

Harper injured his thumb in Sunday's game and will undergo an X-ray on Monday, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports

The injury isn't the same spot as his previous thumb issue, but more abut it should surface following the tests Monday. Until then, consider him day-to-day ahead of Monday's series finale against the Diamondbacks. Even if the test results come out OK, Washington might rest him for the rest of the regular season now that they've clinched the NL East. His fantasy owners have to plan for that course of action and secure a backup option.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Nationals' Bryce Harper: Leaves Sunday's game with apparent injury

Harper left Sunday's game in the third inning with a hand injury, Dan Kolko of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network reports.

Harper seemed to hurt his hand while sliding into third base on a triple. After the slide, he stayed in and scored a run, but he was pulled from the outfield shortly after. Upon his departure, Harper was replaced by Chris Heisey in right field. More details regarding the severity of Harper's injury should be available in the near future.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Not in Sunday's lineup

Belt is not in the lineup for Sunday's outing against San Diego.

Buster Posey will take over at first base while Belt gets his first game off since Sept. 13. The Giants have Monday off, so look for Belt to return to action Tuesday when San Francisco hosts the Rockies.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sitting against southpaw

Pederson is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies.

With the left-handed Tyler Anderson set to take the mound for Colorado, Pederson will have the day off. Enrique Hernandez will head to center field and start in place of Pederson.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Goes 3-for-3 versus Rockies on Saturday

Turner went 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs, a stolen base and two walks in a 14-1 victory over the Rockies on Saturday.

The third baseman is 5-for-6 the last two nights since sitting out Thursday. He has multiple hits in three of his last five games. Turner is hitting .274 with 27 home runs, 89 RBI, 75 runs and four steals in 533 at-bats this season.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Padres' Alex Dickerson: Out of Saturday's lineup

Dickerson is out of the lineup Saturday against the Giants.

After the call-ups of Manuel Margot and Hunter Renfroe, the Padres are going to really spread around the outfield playing time over the final nine days of the season. Jon Jay will start in left field and hit second Saturday.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: On base four times in Friday win

McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a triple, two walks and a run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Nationals.

The veteran slugger has salvaged his season in the second half and is now slashing .318/.406/.612 with six homers and 18 RBI in 85 September at-bats. That tally includes four straight multihit efforts and a current 11-game hitting streak for McCutchen, who has also eclipsed the 20-homer mark for the sixth straight season.
