Winker (illness) is expected to return to the lineup Saturday against the Padres, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

He is missing his fifth straight game Friday, but it sounds like he's almost over the illness. Winker should retain his strong-side platoon role at designated hitter, meaning he will likely start Sunday as well against Yu Darvish.

Choi was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cardinals with left posterior ankle discomfort.

Connor Joe replaces Choi in the lineup at first base. It's unclear if Choi will require additional time to get his ankle right.

With Ozuna still struggling at the plate to start the season, he'll be on the bench against Brady Singer and the Royals. Eddie Rosario will instead serve as Atlanta's DH with Kevin Pillar getting the start in left field and batting eighth.

Carpenter isn't in the Padres' lineup Thursday against the Brewers, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Carpenter will begin the game in the dugout Thursday, even though the Brewers will start the right-handed Colin Rea on the mound. Nelson Cruz, who is 2-for-3 with a home run against Rea, will serve as the Padres' DH and bat fifth.

Canha went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

The veteran outfielder pilfered his first bag of the season after drawing a free pass in the third inning. Canha has had trouble building much momentum at the plate so far, slashing .200/.315/.356 through 13 games with one homer, one steal, four RBI and six runs.

Soler went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

His eighth-inning blast off Jose Alvarado to lead off the top of the eighth inning tied the game at 2-2, setting the stage for Bryan De La Cruz to play hero in the 10th with an RBI single. Soler is supplying his usual numbers to begin the season, batting .217 (10-for-46) through 12 games with four homers and eight RBI.

Harper (elbow) will learn first base in an attempt to return to the field sooner, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

With Rhys Hoskins (knee) out for the season and Darick Hall (thumb) slated to miss at least two months, Harper at first base makes some sense as it would go a long way in solving the Phillies' depth issues at first. However, Harper's new position doesn't affect his timetable for returning to Philadelphia's lineup, as he will be cleared to serve as Philly's designated hitter before getting cleared to throw and play in the outfield.
