Pavin Smith DH | ARI
Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Cleared for live batting practice
Smith (oblique) will take live batting practice Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Smith has been shelved since July 6 due to a right oblique strain but is set to take a notable step forward Tuesday. If he emerges from Tuesday's baseball activities without suffering any type of setback, the team could get him live at-bats during a minor-league game Thursday, per Weiner.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD
Padres' Ryan O'Hearn: Sitting Monday
O'Hearn is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Even with the Diamondbacks sending right-hander Brandon Pfaadt to the mound, the left-hitting O'Hearn will begin Monday's game on the bench, with Luis Arraez starting at first base and Gavin Sheets serving as the designated hitter. O'Hearn has gone 1-for-8 in his first three games with the Padres.

Luken Baker DH | LAD
Dodgers' Luken Baker: Goes to Dodgers via waivers
The Dodgers claimed Baker off waivers from the Cardinals on Monday.
Baker slugged 35 home runs between Triple-A and the majors in 2023 and another 34 long balls between the two levels in 2024. He's hit just .196/.309/.397 with 10 home runs with Memphis in 2025, however, and has slashed only .206/.317/.338 during his time in the majors. Baker will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Sitting again Monday
Flores (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Flores isn't expected to land on the 10-day injured list after his left hamstring tightened up on him in Friday's 4-3 win over the Mets, but he'll end up missing out on a third straight start nonetheless while he remains day-to-day. With Flores on the bench Monday, Dominic Smith will serve as the Giants' designated hitter and Rafael Devers will start at first base.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Cleared for next pitching start
Ohtani is listed as the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals in Los Angeles, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
In his seventh start of the season as a pitcher last Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohtani was expected to cover four innings but was lifted after three frames due to lower-body cramps. Ohtani was able to remain in that game as the Dodgers' designated hitter, and he proceeded to serve as the DH in the team's ensuing three contests. The cramping problem apparently didn't affect Ohtani's between-starts throwing program either, so he'll be ready to return to the mound Wednesday as planned on six days' rest. The Dodgers aren't expected to use a designated bulk reliever behind Ohtani, though the right-hander will likely be capped at four innings as the team continues to stretch him back out slowly coming off his second career Tommy John surgery in September 2023.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Swipes two bags from atop lineup
Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a double, a run, two walks and two stolen bases in a 3-0 win against the Rays on Sunday.
After Mookie Betts batted leadoff in each of the Dodgers' previous six contests, Ohtani was moved back to the top of the batting order Sunday. The two-way star served as a catalyst from that spot, reaching base four times. Ohtani also stole two bases, marking his first multi-theft game of the campaign. The slugger swiped a career-best 59 bags last year, but he's been less active on the basepaths this season with 15 steals in 19 attempts. That may be due in part to his resumption of pitching duties -- since Ohtani made his season debut on the mound June 16, he's posted just four thefts over 40 contests.

Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Adds insurance with homer
Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Tigers.
Schwarber was the only Phillie with multiple hits in this contest, which included an eighth-inning solo shot off Tyler Holton. That long ball moved Schwarber into a tie with Shohei Ohtani for the National League lead with 38 homers on the year. Schwarber has added a .254/.379/.578 slash line, 88 RBI, 77 runs scored and 10 stolen bases over 111 contests. He hit .264 with a 1.093 OPS in a 12-homer barrage in July, so there's been no slowing down for Philadelphia's main designated hitter.
-
Rafael Devers DH | SF
Giants' Rafael Devers: Fuels offense in rout
Devers went 3-for-4 with a homer, four RBI and an additional run scored in Sunday's 12-4 victory over the Mets.
The San Francisco star started at designated hitter and gave his team a 4-1 lead with a 403-foot, three-run blast off New York starter Frankie Montas in the third. Devers later plated another run to notch his second four-RBI performance as a member of the Giants. The 28-year-old slugger is slashing .258/.378/.464 with 20 homers, 77 RBI and 63 runs scored in 510 total plate appearances across 113 games.

Seiya Suzuki DH | CHC
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Snaps slump with two hits Sunday
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Orioles.
Suzuki came into the contest 0-for-8 with three strikeouts over his last three games, but he managed to snap out of his mini slump with his first two-hit effort since July 18. Despite the recent downturn in production, the outfielder is still having a strong season with 26 home runs, 82 RBI and an .822 OPS across 107 games. The homers and RBI are both new career bests for Suzuki.

Adrian Del Castillo DH | ARI
Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Taking seat against righty
Del Castillo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Though he's been a regular in the lineup against right-handed pitching since getting a call-up from Triple-A Reno on July 18, the left-handed-hitting Del Castillo will exit the lineup while the Athletics send righty Jack Perkins to the hill. Lourdes Gurriel will get a day off from playing the outfield and will step in at designated hitter in place of Del Castillo, who has gone 3-for-28 with 13 strikeouts over his last eight contests.
