Torrens is starting as the designated hitter and batting seventh in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Torrens has appeared in 12 games so far and has looked good with his limited chances, slashing .313/./389/.375 across 16 at-bats. He's been better against lefties than righties during his career, so the matchup Sunday against Los Angeles starter Clayton Kershaw makes sense. Torrens will likely slide back to the bench in the team's next game Tuesday.

The Pirates transferred Choi from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

It's a procedural move by the Pirates to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for utility man Drew Maggi, whose contract was selected from Double-A Altoona ahead of Sunday's game against the Reds. Choi, who is recovering from a left Achilles' tendon strain, is expected to return from the IL in late June or early July.

Ozuna is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Astros.

Ozuna has a .078/.190/.216 slash line through 58 plate appearances and will head to the bench Sunday for the third time in Atlanta's past four games. Eddie Rosario will again serve as the designated hitter while Kevin Pillar starts in left field.

Pederson (wrist) will likely be activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Pederson was eligible to return from the injured list Saturday but evidently needed one more day to heal. He recorded an .895 OPS with a pair of homers in 10 games prior to going down with wrist inflammation and should reclaim a role in the heart of the order against righties once activated.

Meneses went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Twins.

Menseses drove in the first run with an infield single in the first off Pablo Lopez, and an inning later he roped a single to center to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead. After a slow start to the season, Meneses has now picked up multiple hits in three of his last six games, and a .204 average on April 14 is now up to .259 with the strong efforts. Menseses is a flawed fantasy player, but he's one of the few Washington regulars that has offensive upside.

McCutchen will sit Saturday against the Reds.

McCutchen has had a fairly regular role for the Pirates this season, but the team has been careful to give his 36-year-old legs sufficient rest. Through 22 games, he's sat five times. The maintenance plan seems to be working so far, as he's hit .277/.388/.523 with four homers and three steals.

Meneses went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's victory over the Twins.

Meneses was excellent in 2022, slugging 13 home runs and batting .324 in 56 games, but 2023 has been a major letdown so far for the 30-year-old. He finally hit his first home run Friday, as his seventh-inning solo shot started a Washington comeback. The first baseman is hitting .227 (17-for-75) in 18 games.

Carpenter is out of the lineup Friday versus the Diamondbacks.

Nelson Cruz is serving as the Padres' designated hitter and batting sixth against the Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen. Carpenter homered and scored two runs in Thursday's series opener but holds a disappointing .167/.348/.361 overall slash line for the year.

Ozuna isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Friday's game against Houston, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

A .083/.200/.229 slash line to start the year will send Ozuna to the bench for the second consecutive game. Eddie Rosario will take over as Atlanta's designated hitter, and Kevin Pillar will start in left field and bat ninth.

Harper (elbow) could return at designated hitter for the Phillies as soon as the first weekend of May, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Harper will be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache -- who performed his Tommy John surgery last November -- in Los Angeles while the Phillies are there for a series against the Dodgers at the beginning of May. The team is prepared to have Harper skip a rehab assignment, so he could return shortly after the doctor visit if he gets the green light. "If we get clearance from the doctor, then we'll see when he can start DHing," manager Rob Thomson said Thursday. "But it shouldn't be too far after that." Harper played catch Thursday and has been working out at first base with the thought that he might be able to play that position sooner than right field. He's likely to be a DH only for a while though, and he is currently able to swing a bat without restrictions. The last potential hurdle to being able to DH is full-intensity slides, including dives back into first base on a pickoff attempt, because his reconstructed elbow is still at risk of rupturing. Harper returning in early May or shortly after would mean making it back less than six months after surgery and more than two months before the initial All-Star break timeline the Phillies established the day of the operation.
