  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: On bench Tuesday

Vientos is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees.

Tommy Pham will serve as the Mets' designated hitter and Mark Canha will cover first base in the opening game of the Subway Series. Brett Baty is at third. Vientos, 23, has slashed just .167/.200/.238 in 15 games (45 plate appearances) since being called up from Triple-A Syracuse on May 17.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

    Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Officially day-to-day

Ozuna was removed from Monday's game as a precaution due to a right wrist contusion.

Ozuna, who was pulled after getting hit by a pitch in his second at-bat Monday, appears to have avoided a serious injury. It's possible Atlanta keeps him out of the lineup Tuesday in order for him to heal, but he figures to be back within a few days. Ozuna is in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak and is hitting .414 with two home runs and three doubles over that stretch.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Pulled after HBP

Ozuna was removed from Monday's game against the Tigers after getting hit by a pitch, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Ozuna initially remained in the game after taking a pitch to the hand/wrist, but Travis d'Arnaud later pinch-hit for him. Atlanta has yet to offer any details regarding Ozuna's injury, but he did seem to be in quite a bit of pain immediately after getting hit. He should be considered day-to-day until more is known.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Sitting versus lefty

Pederson is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Cardinals.

He will take a seat as the Giants face off with left-hander Matthew Liberatore on the mound. Pederson had started six games in a row -- all against righties -- but he has not started against a lefty all season.

  • Kyle Lewis DH | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kyle Lewis: Activated and optioned

The Diamondbacks reinstated Lewis (illness) from the 10-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Lewis is evidently over the undiclosed illness which has kept him sidelined since early April. However, the Diamondbacks decided they don't have a spot for him on the major-league club right now, so he'll remain in Reno, where he had been on his rehab assignment.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Mets' Mark Canha: Nabs fourth steal

Canha went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Pirates.

The hit was one of only three for the Mets on the afternoon, while the steal was Canha's fourth in 57 games -- exceeding his total of three from last season in 140 games. The 34-year-old has picked up the pace at the plate, slashing .302/.423/.488 over his last 15 games with two homers, two steals, six runs and nine RBI, and in the absence of Pete Alonso (wrist) he figures to split time at first base with Mark Vientos while also seeing action in the outfield corners.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Marlins' Jorge Soler: Smashes two homers

Soler went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and one double in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Soler blasted his 18th and 19th long balls of the season Sunday to log his second consecutive game with three hits. The multi-homer effort was Soler's third of the season and bumped him up to second place in MLB in home runs, trailing only Pete Alonso. Although both of Soler's homers came against right-handed pitchers, he has dominated lefties in 2023, slashing .333/.438/.889 with a massive .556 ISO.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Perfect day at plate

Pederson went 4-for-4 with two home runs, two additional runs, four RBI and a walk in Sunday's 13-3 win over the Cubs.

Pederson had a massive day at the dish, reaching base five times and knocking a pair of two-run shots. He had two four-hit games during the weekend series against the Cubs, raising his average from .228 to .282 in the process. Pederson went deep for the first time since May 12 and now has seven long balls with 24 RBI and a .934 OPS through 123 plate appearances.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Reaches four times in win

Harper went 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Dodgers.

Harper reached safely in all four plate appearances Sunday and has 22 walks through his first 34 games. The veteran's 2023 campaign was delayed while working his way back from Tommy John surgery that cost him the end of 2022, but he's been sharp since making his season debut, slashing .287/.382/.434 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 23 runs scored and four stolen bases.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Shelved with hand fracture

Colorado placed Blackmon on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a fractured right hand, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

The Rockies haven't provided a timeline for Blackmon's return from a fifth metatarsal fracture, though the nature of the injury portends an absence of longer than 10 days, even though the injury is to his non-dominant hand. Blackmon had been serving as the Rockies' primary designated hitter, but the team could turn to a rotation of players to fill in for the veteran while he recovers from the hand fracture.
