  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Leaves early Thursday

Miller was forced out of Thursday's matchup early due to right elbow soreness.

X-rays on MIller's elbow came back negative. He had yet to have an at-bat before exiting the game, and being replaced by Alexei Ramirez. Consider him day-to-day going forward.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Goes yard again Wednesday

Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and two runs scored Wednesday against the Royals.

Since joining the roster as a September call-up, Buxton's been rapidly regaining all the allure he lost with his MLB struggles last season and earlier this year. Over seven games, he's gone 12-for-26 with four doubles, four homers, 10 RBI and 10 runs -- now that's what we're looking for from a guy who was for a time considered the game's top prospect. He's likely still available as a waiver add in a lot of yearly leagues.

  • Royals' Christian Colon: Recalled from Triple-A

Colon was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

The fourth overall pick in 2010, he showed some encouraging signs during the 2014-15 seasons, flashing an ability to hit and get on base at a useful clip. However, Colon has taken a significant step back this year at the age of 27 and will likely play primarily off the bench over the final month.

  • Kennys Vargas DH | MIN

Twins' Kennys Vargas: Officially recalled from Triple-A

Vargas was officially recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

With the Triple-A season now over, Vargas will rejoin the Twins, for whom he's appeared in 25 games this season, hitting .259 with six home runs and 13 RBI. The 26-year-old could see time at first base over the final month of the season and he'll also be an option in the DH spot.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Homers twice in win over White Sox

Cabrera hit a pair of solo home runs in a 4-for-5 game Monday against the White Sox.

Cabrera now has five two-homer games in 2016. Monday's effort gives him 31 home runs for the season, his first 30-homer campaign since he had managed seven straight such seasons from 2007-2013. Cabrera owns a brilliant .316/.389/.556 batting line and is showing no signs of showing down even at age 33.

  • Kennys Vargas DH | MIN

Twins' Kennys Vargas: Will be called up Tuesday

Vargas is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Phil Miller of the Star Tribune reports.

Over 25 games with the Twins this season, Vargas is hitting .259/.379/.576 with six home runs and 13 RBI. However, he's struggled recently with Rochester. In his last 10 games, he's gone 7-for-33 with 10 strikeouts, bringing his batting average down to .233 for the year. Once he joins the big club, Vargas will add depth at first base, but can also be an option in the DH spot.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Hits third home in last four games

Buxton went 3-for-4 with this third home run in four games in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.

Has Buxton finally turned the corner in the majors? It's just a small sample size, but he's 9-for-16 with three home runs and one strikeout last four games since returning from Triple-A.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Tigers' J.D. Martinez: Smashes 20th homer of 2016 on Sunday

Martinez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs Sunday against the Royals.

After batting .404 in August, Martinez has continued to swing the bat well in September, as he's started out 4-for-12 along with his 20th homer of the season. He currently has the highest batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage of his six-year career.

  • AJ Reed DH | HOU

Astros' A.J. Reed: Playing time declining

Reed remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Angel Verdejo of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Since his Aug. 2 call-up, Reed has once again struggled to establish himself as a big league hitter, going 11-for-62 (.177 average) with one homer over that span. He'll now hit the bench for the seventh time in nine games, ceding first base to Tyler White.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Continues hot streak

Buxton went 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Buxton is 6-for-10 with two home runs in three games since returning from Triple-A. He also doesn't have a strikeout which has been his biggest issue in the majors (35.7 percent strikeout rate). Still, we'll need to see him continue to play well in September to believe he's finally turned the corner in the majors.
