Manager Brad Ausmus said Cabrera (back) is still a little sore and probably won't play Wednesday against the Rockies, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies after exiting Monday's contest with lower-back tightness, and it appears the issue will keep him sidelined for Wednesday's series finale as well. The good news is that Ausmus didn't seem overly concerned about the injury, so the Tigers are likely trying to give him an extra day of rest ahead of Thursday's off day. John Hicks will likely start in his place at first base again.

Vargas will serve as the Twins' designated hitter and bat seventh Tuesday against the White Sox.

Injuries to Robbie Grossman (thumb) and Miguel Sano (shin) have left Vargas the top option on the depth chart at DH. Vargas will draw his third consecutive start Tuesday after going 3-for-9 with two RBI over the past two contests.

While Miller's walk rate has jumped from 7.8 percent to 17.3 percent, his home-run total has dropped from 30 to six.

Buxton went 4-for-5 with three home runs, five RBI and a stolen base during Sunday's win over the Blue Jays.

Buxton will be reluctant to see the calendar turn to September, as the dynamic 23-year-old has been hitting at a torrid pace during the month of August. Following his first career multi-homer game, he is now slashing .304/.340/.543 with five home runs, 16 RBI and seven stolen bases this month. It appears that Buxton may finally be materializing into the well-rounded star that many baseball pundits believed he'd eventually become. There have been some growing pains with the speedy center fielder, but he should be deployed with confidence in all fantasy formats moving forward.

This was the first time he's hit safely in five games, and unless it's apparent that he's going on an extended hot streak, his .411 slugging percentage hasn't done much to help fantasy owners.

Miller exited Thursday's game with a left shoulder contusion, but the 27-year-old second baseman is good to go after getting Friday's game off. He'll face the struggling Mike Leake in his return to the lineup.

Cabrera received the harshest punishment for his actions during the fight, specifically for "inciting the bench-clearing incident," according to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network. In total, four players wound up receiving suspensions. It appears Cabrera will appeal the suspension -- the 34-year-old is in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Chicago -- in hopes of having it reduced.
