Twins' Byron Buxton: Hits walk-off home run

Buxton went 2-for-4 with his first career walk-off home run, a solo shot in the bottom of the 10th inning, in Thursday's win over Toronto.

Buxton has 10 home runs in his last 31 games and is hitting .322 over that span. He's finishing the year strong and having a remarkable turnaround after hitting just .216 with five home runs and a .594 OPS in the first half of the season.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Connects for 16th home run

Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a home run in Thursday's loss to the White Sox.

The 34-year-old's sudden and dramatic decline has made for one of the most surprising stories of the baseball season. He's still batting just .249/.331/.405 with 16 homers and 60 RBI after Thursday's output, but he's Miguel Cabrera and most owners don't have a better alternative. Hopefully he'll come on strong over the final couple weeks.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Two doubles Thursday

Canha went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles Thursday in Boston.

Both of Canha's doubles came with a man on first base, but the runner was held at third on both occasions. He's still sitting at just 10 runs and 11 RBI in 45 games this season, and is unlikely to move out of the bottom third of the batting order.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Takes seat vs. lefty Wednesday

Miller is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Miller has been a regular on the bench against left-handed pitching all season, so it's no surprise he'll take a seat with southpaw Jaime Garcia on the bump for the Yankees in the series finale. Danny Espinosa checks in for Miller at second base, batting ninth.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Sitting versus lefty

Miller is not in the lineup Monday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Miller will head to the bench with the Rays facing southpaw CC Sabathia. With Miller out, Danny Espinosa will start at second base and hit eighth.

  • Kennys Vargas DH | MIN

Twins' Kennys Vargas: Launches two-run bomb in loss

Vargas went 2-for-2 with a double, a two-run home run and two walks during Sunday's loss to Kansas City.

Vargas has been playing sparingly, and while Sunday's blast could earn him a few more at-bats moving forward, he's not in the lineup enough to move the needle in most fantasy settings. His .249/.311/.438 slash line shouldn't instill much confidence, either.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Homers during rebound from cold spell

Buxton went 2-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday in the Twins' 5-2 loss to the Royals.

The talented-but-erratic 23-year-old entered the day stuck in an 0-for-18 slide over his previous four contests, but Buxton recovered in a fine way, lofting his 14th home run of the year off Royals starter Jake Junis. He'll take a .249/.313/.407 slash line into Sunday's action.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Leaves yard in return from suspension

Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Saturday against the Blue Jays.

In his return from a six-game suspension, Cabrera launched his 15th bomb of the season to give the Tigers a two-run lead in the first inning of a game they'd go on to lose. Unless fantasy managers are willing to gamble on him getting hot over the last few weeks of the season, his .250./.334/.406 slash line has made him a tough player to trust this season.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Not in Saturday's lineup

Miller is out of the lineup against the Red Sox on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With Chris Sale on the mound for Boston, Miller retreats to the bench in favor of Danny Espinosa. Over the course of the month, Miller is just 2-for-17 at the plate.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Back from suspension

Cabrera (suspension) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays, playing first and batting third.

Cabrera served his six-game suspension over the past week, the result of his involvement in a brawl with the Yankees on Aug. 24. Prior to the suspension, Cabrera was just 3-for-30 over his past 10 appearances.
