  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Back in action Wednesday

Buxton (hip) will be in the lineup Wednesday against the Astros, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The Twins have yet to release their full lineup Wednesday, but Buxton will be included after sitting out the past couple games since suffering a low-level hip strain Saturday. The 28-year-old continues to crush when available this season with nine home runs and a .278/.342/.722 slash line over 19 games.

  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mariners' Luis Torrens: Scores twice in Tuesday's win

Torrens went 2-for-4 with two runs in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday.

The previously struggling backstop snapped out of a multi-game slump with his first multi-hit effort of the season. Torrens had hit just .087 (2-for-23) with nine strikeouts over the previous seven games, so Tuesday's productive outing only served to lift his season slash line to .191/.220/.213.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Gets breather Wednesday

Miller isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Royals.

Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's series opener against Kansas City, and he'll get a day off Wednesday. Nick Solak will start in left field while Charlie Culberson enters the lineup at third base.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Rays' Harold Ramirez: Takes seat Wednesday

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Ramirez will head to the bench after he saw a five-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-3 performance in Tuesday's 12-0 loss to the Angels. The 27-year-old had started in five of the Rays' last six games, but he'll likely be deployed a short-side platoon player for Tampa Bay moving forward as long as Manuel Margot (hamstring) isn't forced to the injured list.

  • White Sox's Yermin Mercedes: Activated and optioned

The White Sox activated Mercedes (hand) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Mercedes spent the first month of the season on the shelf after undergoing surgery in late March to address a hamate bone fracture in his left hand. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at Charlotte last week, and with the White Sox having no room for him on the 26-man active roster, he'll remain with Chicago's top affiliate after going 4-for-15 with a double and two walks during his first four games on the farm.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Takes seat Wednesday

Stanton isn't starting Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Stanton will get a breather after he went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's series opener against Toronto. Aaron Judge will serve as the designated hitter while Marwin Gonzalez starts in right field.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

    Rangers' Brad Miller: Producing runs

Miller started at third base and went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Kansas City.

Miller's fighting a slumping bat, but he continues to deliver with runners in scoring position (8-for-16, 13 RBI). A two-out RBI in the fourth inning knocked in Texas' fifth run and was the 15th RBI of the season for Miller despite his .209 average. He continues to sit against lefties and was pinch hit for by Charlie Culberson in the sixth inning against lefty reliever Amir Garrett.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Mashes seventh homer

Stanton went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays.

All of the Yankees' offense came on a pair of three-run blasts by the team's biggest sluggers, as Stanton took Yimi Garcia deep in the sixth inning before Aaron Judge walked it off in the ninth. Five of Stanton's seven homers on the year have come in the last 12 games, a stretch during which he's slashing .311/.365/.644 with 13 RBI.

  • Nick Solak DH | SD

Rangers' Nick Solak: Doubles, swipes two bags

Solak went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases in a 6-4 win Tuesday over Kansas City.

Both of Solak's stolen bases directly led to runs, as he stole second before scoring on a two-out single in the fourth and, in the sixth, stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Entering the game he was in the midst of a massive slump, going 3-for-26 in the last 14 contests. It was his first double and third extra-base hit on the season. His .700 OPS is right in line with his .706 career mark.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Progressing well

Jimenez said Tuesday that he's progressing faster than expected in his return from hamstring surgery, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Jimenez underwent the procedure in late April and was expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. It's unclear if his optimism is shared by the White Sox organization, but it's still better to hear that he feels good than to hear the alternative.
