Ruiz played out the final five-plus frames of Saturday's suspended game and finished 2-for-4 with a double, and it's not a surprise he's out of the starting nine for Sunday's full contest. Riley Adams will step in behind the plate, batting ninth.

Rangers' Mitch Garver: Nearing rehab assignment
Manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Garver (knee) is expected to begin a rehab assignment around May 23, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
Garver's target date to return from the 10-day injured list was previously mentioned as May 23, but his activation date is now likely to be at least a few days beyond that. The 32-year-old played in just six games before he landed on the shelf with a knee sprain in early April, so he could require a handful of games in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the Rangers.

Realmuto returns to the lineup after he missed Saturday's 7-4 win over the Rockies while tending to a sprained right pinkie finger. The backstop has performed well in May, slashing .296/.310/.556 through his first eight games of the month.

Grandal will miss another game Sunday while recovering from tightness in his hamstring. According to Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com, the veteran backstop should be available off the bench and is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against Cleveland. Seby Zavala will handle catching duties in the series finale versus Houston.

White Sox's Carlos Perez: Optioned to Charlotte
The White Sox optioned Perez to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Perez was sent down to Charlotte as the corresponding transaction for Jake Burger (oblique) after Burger was activated off the injured list. The backstop could be back with the White Sox at some point this summer.

Gomes is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Twins.
Gomes sat out Saturday but will return following the one-game absence, bumping Tucker Barnhart to the bench. Gomes has been outstanding so far with a .324 batting average, .935 OPS and six home runs across 21 games, making him a surprise fantasy standout at this point in the season.
