Dodgers' Will Smith: Resting Saturday
Smith isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
Smith will rest his legs Saturday after tallying four hits, two RBI and two runs scored over his last three games. Dalton Rushing will replace him behind the plate and bat eighth.

Patrick Bailey C | SF
Giants' Patrick Bailey: Multi-hit effort in victory
Bailey went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Mets.
Bailey lined a double to right field in the seventh inning, driving in a run to give the Giants a 3-0 lead. He then added a single in the ninth, marking his fourth multi-hit performance in 12 games since the All-Star break. During that span, he's slashing .244/.273/.317 with three RBI, three doubles and two runs scored across 45 plate appearances.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Pirates' Joey Bart: Draws four free passes Friday
Bart went 0-for-1 with four walks, two runs and an RBI in Friday's 17-16 loss to the Rockies.
Bart has now drawn at least one walk in each of his last four starts to bring his on-base percentage up from .327 to .355 for the season. The Pirates are continuing to use Bart in a timeshare behind the dish with Henry Davis, and the arrangement will likely continue for the balance of the season unless one of the two catchers dramatically outperforms the other.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Five hits in offensive eruption
Contreras went 5-for-7 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 16-9 win over the Nationals.
The Brewers rattled off a season-high 25 hits, with Contreras leading the way, and he launched his ninth homer of the year off Ryan Loutos in the seventh inning. The acquisition of Danny Jansen at the trade deadline should allow Contreras to get more rest down the stretch, and he got the start at DH on Friday while Jansen slotted in behind the plate. Contreras hadn't lived up to expectations in 2025, but he's catching fire at the right time for Milwaukee's playoff chances -- the 27-year-old has four straight multi-hit performances with two doubles, three homers, five RBI and nine runs, and over 25 games since the beginning of July he's slashing .311/.351/.472.

Carson Kelly C | CHC
Cubs' Carson Kelly: Leads offense in low-scoring game
Kelly went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Friday's 1-0 win over the Orioles.
Kelly had half of Chicago's hits and scored the team's lone run in the low-scoring affair. The veteran catcher had a productive July, slashing .290/.370/.581 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 18 games, and he's off to a good start in August. Kelly is locked in as the Cubs' top backstop, though the eventual return of Miguel Amaya (oblique) could cut into his playing time a little bit.

Hunter Goodman RF | COL
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers in victory
Goodman went 2-for-5 with a walk, a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBI during Friday's 17-16 win over the Pirates.
Goodman swatted another home run over the wall Friday, his 20th of his season. He's been a big bright spot on the otherwise struggling Rockies, slashing .277/.322/.510 with 61 RBI in 96 games. His .832 OPS ranks third among all catchers in MLB.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Clubs homer in win
Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double in Friday's 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
Langeliers did his damage early, with the homer coming as part of the Athletics' four-run first inning. He's lifted five long balls over his last seven games, going 12-for-29 (.414) with seven RBI in that span. The hot stretch has the catcher up to a .258/.312/.507 slash line on the year. His .819 OPS is impressive, especially since it was at .709 entering the All-Star break. Langeliers has added 19 homers, 45 RBI, 41 runs scored, five stolen bases and 17 doubles through 80 contests this season.

Kyle Higashioka C | TEX
Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Sitting Friday
Higashioka is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Mariners on Friday.
Higashioka has started in the Rangers' last three games since returning from a hamstring injury, going 5-for-11 with a triple and two solo homers. He'll get a breather Friday while Jonah Heim serves behind home plate and bats ninth.
