Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Launches another long ball
Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs.
Alvarez accounted for all of New York's runs Wednesday with his two-run homer in the third inning. It was his third long ball over his past four contests, a span in which the backstop is hitting .462 (6-for-13) with seven RBI and no strikeouts. The injured Tomas Nido (eye) and Omar Narvaez (calf) may be ready to return to the Mets soon, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Alvarez continue to hold down primary catcher duties given his recent offensive surge.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Goes yard in loss
Wong went 1-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Angels.
Wong smacked a 420-foot homer to center field to round the bases for the fifth time this season. He has produced a powerful May with a .565 slugging percentage. For the season Wong has a .738 OPS as he has produced in his first chance with regular playing time. However, he will likely continue to split time fairly evenly with Reese McGuire. Both have reached 70 plate appearances this season.

Elias Diaz C | KC
Rockies' Elias Diaz: Smacks fifth homer
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Marlins.
Diaz smoked a Sandy Alcantara slider 427 feet for a homer. He has clubbed five long balls in 2023, putting him on pace to reach double digits for the third time in his career. The catcher has been one of the most surprising fantasy players of the season, as he is sporting a career-high .913 OPS after never previously topping .800 in a campaign. In addition to the increased pop, Diaz has walked 13 times, as he closes in on a career high of 30 free passes.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Battling groin tightness
Jansen was pulled from Wednesday's game against Tampa Bay due to left groin tightness.
More details on Jansen's injury have now been revealed, but there is still no word surrounding the severity of his groin tightness. If Jansen is forced to miss some time, Alejandro Kirk will likely fill in as Toronto's primary backstop.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Leaves with apparent injury
Jansen was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
Jansen might have tweaked something while running out a grounder in the top of the fifth inning, as he didn't come back out for defense in the bottom of the frame. The Blue Jays should have more on the catcher's status soon.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Mets' Omar Narvaez: To begin rehab games Thursday
Narvaez (calf) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Brooklyn, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Narvaez will probably remain at Brooklyn through the weekend before advancing to Triple-A Syracuse. He needs a lot of rehab at-bats because he's been out since early April due to a severe calf strain, but the 31-year-old catcher is pushing for a return to the Mets around early-to-mid June. It'll be a complicated situation in Queens if Francisco Alvarez, Gary Sanchez and Tomas Nido are all healthy and performing well at that juncture.

Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Hits second homer of season
Jeffers went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Giants.
With Christian Vazquez getting a day off, Jeffers drew the start at catcher and hit eighth. He walked in his first at-bat, lined out in his second and hit a solo home run in his third, which extended Minnesota's lead to 7-1. Jeffers has been solid when called upon and is slashing .246/.395/.426 across 26 appearances (61 at-bats) with two home runs and five RBI, but Vazquez remains the everyday backstop. The home run was Jeffers' first since April 3.

Nick Fortes C | TB
Marlins' Nick Fortes: Takes seat Wednesday
Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Jacob Stallings will get a turn behind the dish Wednesday after Fortes started at catcher in three of the past four games. Fortes is beginning to heat up at the plate and now owns a poor -- but improving -- .557 OPS, which is still nearly 200 points above Stallings' mark (.364).

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Sits amid slump
Rogers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Kansas City.
Rogers will receive a breather in the series finale after he served as Detroit's starting catcher in three of the previous four games. Eric Haase will check in behind the dish in place of Rogers, who has gone 0-for-13 with six strikeouts over his last four starts to bring his batting average down to .163 for the season.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Cubs' Yan Gomes: Exits lineup
Gomes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Gomes will give way to Tucker Barnhart behind the dish after previously starting at catcher in three of the Cubs' last four games. Since coming off the 7-day injured list May 10 after recovering from a concussion, Gomes is hitting .286 with a home run and six RBI in eight games.
