  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Heads to bench

Jeffers is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers.

Jeffers is hitting .207 with three home runs in nine games this month. Christian Vazquez draws the start, batting eighth.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

    Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Resting Saturday

Rortvedt is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rortvedt will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 0-for-2 in Friday's contest. Alex Jackson will start behind home plate and bat ninth.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Hits fifth home run Friday

Amaya went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-6, 10-inning win over the Blue Jays.

Amaya has only five home runs this season in 86 games, though he's gone deep twice in 10 contests so far this month. The catcher is batting .258 in August with a .797 OPS, which are both ahead of his season-long rates. Amaya will see his fantasy appeal increase if he can maintain his recent level of performance, as he's fairly locked into the No. 1 role behind the plate for the Cubs, with only veteran Christian Bethancourt joining him on the roster currently.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Back in lineup Saturday

Dingler is starting at catcher and batting fifth in Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Jake Rogers handled catching duties for the Tigers on Friday, going 0-for-3 to lower his season batting average to .195. Dingler is only hitting .185 himself through his first eight games at the MLB level, but Detroit probably wants to get the rookie more experience to finish out the year. Expect Dingler and Rogers to continue splitting time behind the plate fairly evenly moving forward.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Swipes bag in return

Trevino went 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's 3-0 victory versus the Tigers.

Trevino was activated from the injured list during New York's off day Thursday after missing over a month due to a quad injury. The backstop was given a start Friday and walked in his first plate appearance, and he followed the free pass with a surprising steal of second base. It was his first theft since 2022 and just his fourth over seven big-league campaigns. Trevino will likely work in a backup role behind Austin Wells now that he is back in action.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Resting Saturday

Raleigh is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Raleigh has gone 0-for-11 with two walks and three strikeouts across his last three outings, and he will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Mitch Garver will start behind home plate and bat eighth against Pittsburgh southpaw Bailey Falter.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Belts game-tying homer

    O'Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 win over Atlanta.

Entering Friday, O'Hoppe was 0-for-28 with three walks and 13 strikeouts over his last seven games. He put the slump to rest with a game-tying blast in the fourth inning, which was his 17th homer of the season. The catcher has added a .256/.314/.434 slash line with 48 RBI, 51 runs scored, 13 doubles, a triple and two stolen bases over 104 contests. O'Hoppe still has some work to do to get back on track -- he was hitting .281 at the end of July -- but he can loosen his grip a bit now that he's ended his dry spell.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Homers in Friday's loss

Pages went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers.

Pages put the Cardinals ahead 4-2 with a solo shot in the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the sixth after they fell behind. The catcher's playing time has been a bit sparse in August, but he's gone 6-for-20 (.300) over seven games this month. Overall, he has a .246/.296/.362 slash line, three homers, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base over 143 plate appearances. Pages most often catches versus southpaws, allowing Willson Contreras to rest his legs as the designated hitter in those contests.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Scratched from lineup

Rutschman (back) has been scratched from Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Rutschman was a late scratch due to low back discomfort, per Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun. James McCann will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Drew Romo C | CHW

Rockies' Drew Romo: Gets call-up from Triple-A

The Rockies selected Romo's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The switch-hitting Romo earned his first big-league promotion after hitting .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. He and Jacob Stallings will form the Rockies' catching duo down the stretch following the release of Elias Diaz.
