Sanchez (foot) was removed from Friday's loss to the Dodgers after taking a foul tip off of his foot. The injury is being reported as a foot contusion, Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

X-rays came back negative on the veteran catcher, but he was seen on crutches after the game and will be re-evaluated Saturday. Sanchez has been backing up Austin Hedges behind the dish, and with a third catcher on the roster, he could avoid a trip to the disabled list if the injury is considered minor.

Vazquez is out of the lineup Saturday against the Twins, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Vazquez has started the last three games and is 1-for-14 over the past week, yet still has a solid .333 average on the season. He gives way to Sandy Leon behind the plate in what appears to be a routine day off.

Contreras says he is alright after being involved in a scary collision during Friday's game against the Yankees, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Despite remaining down for several moments, Contreras stayed in the game after colliding with Starlin Castro, who was attempting to score on a sacrifice fly during the sixth inning. Fortunately, the 24-year-old catcher says he's perfectly fine, so he should be in line to resume backstop duties as the weekend series continues.

Narvaez went 2-for-4 with a run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Narvaez (14 games) and Geovany Soto (12 games) have been splitting the catching duties fairly evenly. Narvaez is the lesser-known commodity, but has managed to handle major-league pitching (.264 career average) since being called up in 2016 despite only 188 at-bats above High-A. There's not a lot of power to his bat, but Narvaez is hitting a serviceable .279 in 43 at-bats this season.

Gosewisch was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Gosewisch hasn't been particularly great for Tacoma, where he owns a .240/.339/.320 batting line over 17 games, but Mike Zunino's struggles were getting to be too much for Mariners brass to handle. The former Diamondbacks catcher will hold down the backup spot until Zunino proves he's ready to handle the show once again. Expect Carlos Ruiz to get most of the starts at catcher over Gosewisch.

Hedges is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Hedges will receive a normal off day while the switch-hitting Hector Sanchez will take his spot behind the plate. The 24-year-old catcher has been solid defensively this season, but he's also struggled with the bat, slashing .182/.232/.420 to go along with six home runs in 96 plate appearances.

D'Arnaud was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a bone bruise in his wrist, Marc Carig of Newsweek reports.

D'Arnaud's injury stems from when he aggravated a previous wrist issue Tuesday. There has not been a timetable established for when he's expected to return. The Mets are hoping that d'Arnaud's injury does not end up sapping any power when he returns like wrist injuries have sometimes been known to do.

Contreras stayed in Friday's game after being involved in a collision along the third-base line, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Contreras went down after the scary collision with Starlin Castro and it was reported that he left the game, but apparently he's going to tough it out.

Contreras left Friday's game in the sixth inning following a collision near home plate, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.

Contreras fielded a throw up the third-base line from Jason Heyward and collided with the Yankees' Starlin Castro, but he held onto the ball for the out. The 24-year-old was also able to walk off the field under his own power. He should be considered day-to-day until there's information to suggest otherwise.

Gomes is not in the lineup Friday against the Royals, 610 Sports Radio KC reports.

Despite coming off consecutive multi-hit games, Gomes will head to the bench as Roberto Perez gets the start behind the dish. Gomes' recent efforts at the plate have brought his slash line to a slightly more respectable .224/.318/.328 through 20 games this season.
