Gomes went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Mets.

The catcher hadn't collected a hit since May 4, but he broke out of his slump in a big way. Gomes is slashing .228/.297/.317 on the year with only two homers and 12 RBI through 32 games as he continues to split time behind the plate with Kurt Suzuki.

Narvaez is not starting Monday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Narvaez has sat against the last five lefties the Mariners have faced. He doesn't have major platoon splits, posting a career 106 wRC+ against lefties to go with a 113 mark against righties, but the Mariners evidently feel the arrangement is a good way to balance playing time between Narvaez and fellow catcher Tom Murphy, who gets the call behind the plate Monday.

Contreras will sit Monday against the Phillies.

The Cubs have gotten into a pattern of sitting Contreras every fifth day, with Yu Darvish receiving a personal catcher, first in the form of Taylor Davis and now with Victor Caratini. Expect that pattern to continue for the foreseeable future.

Triple-A Nashville placed Trevino on its 7-day injured list over the weekend with a strained quadriceps, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The severity of Trevino's quad injury isn't fully known, but he'll be idle for at least the next week while he recovers. Trevino is hitting .240 with one home run and 13 RBI over 107 plate appearances at Nashville this season.

Vazquez is not in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Vazquez hits the bench after starting four straight games, a stretch in which he went 8-for-16 at the plate with three extra-base hits. Sandy Leon returns from the paternity list to start behind the plate.

Leon was reinstated from the paternity list as expected Monday.

Leon should return to his backup catcher role after missing the Red Sox's weekend series against Houston. Oscar Hernandez was optioned in a corresponding move.

Realmuto recorded a two-run home run as a pinch hitter Sunday against the Rockies.

Realmuto pinch hit for Edgar Garcia in the sixth inning and made the most of the opportunity, clubbing a two-run homer to knot the game at 5-5. It was his fifth homer of the season, but his first since April 26. He's now hitting .273/.331/.435 across 172 plate appearances for the season.

Jansen blasted a two-run home run and went 2-for-4 versus the White Sox on Sunday.

Jansen's ninth-inning blast to center field gave Toronto a comfortable lead in what had been a one-run game. The homer was Jansen's second of the season, both of which have come in his last two games. He hopes to be turning things around after a brutal offensive start to the season.

Rupp signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Saturday and was assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Rupp will provide Oakland with extra depth behind the plate in the high minors while top catching prospect Sean Murphy (knee) works back from a torn meniscus. Oakland has received decent production from Josh Phegley and Nick Hundley at the big-league level this season and could get Chris Herrmann (knee) back from the injured list in a couple weeks, so Rupp may have a tough time earning a promotion to the majors even if he performs well in his initial action with Las Vegas.

Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Hernandez was called up as the temporary backup to Christian Vazquez after Sandy Leon was placed on paternity leave. With Leon ready to return, Hernandez is being sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket. He did not appear in a game during the brief callup.
