McCann will remain on the bench Tuesday against Atlanta.

Tuesday's game marks the first time this season that McCann has been on the bench for back-to-back games. He doesn't appear to be dealing with an injury, so his loss of playing time could be performance-related, as he's hitting a miserable .208/.269/.250 on the year. Tomas Nido remains the starter behind the plate in his absence.

Stallings (quadriceps) will sit Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Stallings left Sunday's game against the Giants with a bruised left quadriceps after getting hit by a foul ball and is evidently not yet ready to go following Monday's off day. Michael Perez starts behind the plate in his absence.

Trevino is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

Trevino receives the day off after going 1-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Yankees. Jonah Heim gets the start at catcher and will bat ninth.

Realmuto (wrist) remains on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Realmuto has been banged up lately, dealing with a bruised knee and an illness last week before injuring his left wrist Saturday. He didn't appear in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays and is evidently still not yet ready to go following Monday's off day. Andrew Knapp (side) will return to the lineup in his absence. The Phillies made several moves Tuesday that did not involve placing Realmuto on the injured list, which seemingly suggests they expect him back soon.

Mejia will sit Tuesday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mejia returned from an intercostal strain Sunday and started right away, but he won't be in the lineup on an everyday basis. He and Mike Zunino split time behind the plate fairly evenly prior to Mejia's injury and will continue to do so going forward.

Nido went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Tuesday in the Mets' 3-1 win over Atlanta.

Valued mainly for his work as a game caller behind the dish, Nido came through with a rare big day at the plate for a Mets offense missing several key contributors due to injury. The three-hit outing was the first of Nido's career, but he's unlikely to be rewarded with an uptick in starts so long as No. 1 backstop James McCann is available. McCann had started eight of the previous nine games before getting a much-needed breather Monday.

Murphy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Tigers on Monday.

The veteran backstop was responsible for the Mariners' only run of the night in a surprisingly poor offensive effort against a lowly Detroit squad. His long ball represents one of the few bright spots for Murphy in May, as he's hitting just .120 (3-for-25) across eight games this month.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and an additional run scored in Monday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Smith took Madison Bumgarner deep in the second inning in what was his fourth long ball of the campaign, and he also notched his ninth double of the season. The backstop is hitting .255 with an .834 OPS.

Haase went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Monday's 4-1 win over Seattle.

Haase had just one homer in 65 career plate appearances entering Monday's game. He opened the game's scoring with a solo shot in the second before adding an insurance run with another homer in the ninth. He's 5-for-17 with four extra-base hits since being promoted from Triple-A Toledo.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Monday's 7-3 win over the Nationals.

Contreras batted leadoff in this one and he made his presence felt in his second at-bat, taking former teammate Jon Lester deep for his eighth home run of the season. The slugging catcher has now batted first in three of the Cubs' last four games, and Contreras had the day off in the other contest, so it looks like manager David Ross is comfortable with him in the role. Contreras doesn't offer the speed of a more traditional leadoff hitter, but he's adept at getting on base and should be able to score plenty of runs.
